Westat's 9-week summer internship experiences will be hosted virtually, or on-site at our U.S. office-based locations. Our interns can expect to work 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. The program will begin on Monday, June 5, 2023, and end on August 4, 2023. 
 
During the summer internship program, you will be assigned a project deliverable and will present during the final week of the program. You will also attend educational programs and networking events.  

This position is based in one of Westat's Texas office locations, preferably San Antonio, and enjoys a hybrid work arrangement. The pay rate for this role is $20/hr. Interns are responsible for securing their own housing should they select an on-site role. 

Westat is seeking a Training and Development intern who will support and promote technical assistance for several large- and small-scale education projects. The ideal candidate will have a desire to build experience and knowledge in multimedia technology, instructional design, and andragogy. 

Job Responsibilities: 
•    Present information, using a variety of instructional techniques and formats such as role playing, simulations, team exercises, group discussions, online courses, videos, and lectures.  
•    Organize and develop, or obtain, training materials and guides along with potential course materials such as handouts, visual materials, and online content.  
•    Evaluate training materials prepared by instructors, such as outlines, text, and handouts. Ability to transfer Subject Matter Expertise into actionable training.  
•    Content creation and management, social media marketing, community relations, communications and marketing strategy, and analytics.  
•    Utilizes multimedia technology and authoring tools to assist in the design, development, and implementation of trainings, courses, webinars, face-to-face (F2F) meetings, graphic or video training products. 

Basic Qualifications: 
•    Enrolled in an undergraduate degree program focused on Educational Technology, Communications, or Multimedia.  
•    Basic technical knowledge for training efforts such as video and audio editing, Adobe Connect/WebEx/Zoom and other web conferencing services, familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, YouTube, and other video platforms. 

Preferred Qualifications: 
•    Multimedia Experience such as Adobe Creative Cloud, Final Cut Pro, Camtasia, Canva, or Unity 
•    Social Media Awareness & Knowledge - Twitter, TikTok, Facebook, Snap Chat, and similar platform. 
•    Event Tech Tool Experience - Zoom, Adobe Connect, WebEx, Google Meets 
•    Communication and Marketing Background. 
•    Preferred Coding Experience - Python, Ruby on Rails, Java, Basic HTLM, WordPress or Drupal 
•    Potential event support using conference apps and on-line tools.  

You will thrive in this role if you are a self-starter and able to learn in a fast-paced environment with high stake clients.
