The Land Development Services Operations Division seeks an experienced professional to join its Project Management Team in the capacity of the Nonprofits and Religious Use Coordinator.

Successful candidates will demonstrate outstanding communication skills, exemplary customer service skills, ability to organize and manage complex projects, and familiarity with the land development process. This position will provide key customers with enhanced customer service in navigating the land development process. The Nonprofits and Religious Use Coordinator will serve as an additional staff resource to guide their assigned customers through entitlement, site plan review, building plan review, permitting, bond release and other related processes. They will work closely with all stakeholders involved in the process, including the customer's team, reviewers from internal and external agencies, Supervisors' offices and residents to facilitate efficient processing of applications, permits and other inquiries. This individual will facilitate collaboration among the customer's team and reviewers to provide guidance, recommend processing strategies, answer questions, and resolve problems to avoid unnecessary delays. The Nonprofits and Religious Use Coordinator will liaise primarily with representatives of nonprofit organizations and religious uses located in Fairfax County. The position may be assigned project management duties for areas outside their area of focus, as needed. This position will work closely with the LDS Project Management team in promoting project management best practices throughout LDS and our partner agencies. The position may be assigned to lead and/or participate in key initiatives relating to improving the land development process and/or projects and initiatives pertaining to their area of focus.

Employment Standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to the following:

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES REQUIRED:
Driver's license

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification and/or *Virginia Registered Landscape Architect (LA) license and/or Virginia Registered Professional Engineer (PE) license and/or Registered Land Surveyor (LS) license, or comparable credential;
  • Ten years of professional experience in the field of land development;
  • Ten years of experience in customer service;
  • Experience in preparing, reviewing or processing entitlement applications, site plans and/or building/architectural plans through a local jurisdiction;
  • Project management experience including: preparation and management of project work plans and schedules and leading teams;
  • Experience working with elected or appointed boards and commissions, civic associations or citizens groups, professional associations.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Appointee is required to complete a criminal background check and driving record check to the satisfaction of the employer.
