Under the immediate supervision of the Director of Organizational Capacity Building, the Project Director will be responsible for the coordination and delivery of Capacity Building project portfolio efforts, including collaborative planning with Community Action agencies and associations to meet their needs; Training and Technical Assistance development and provision to Community Action Agencies, State Associations, and State Offices; and resource development efforts. The salary range for this position is $75,000-$80,000 depending on experience. The position is located in the Partnership’s Washington, DC office, but remote options may be considered.

- Develop and provide in-person and web-based training and technical assistance to State Associations and Community Action Agencies (CAAs) focused on practices that build the capacity of network members through the provision of customized training; development and curation of resources; and development of eCourses, toolkits, action plans, and other tools. Support the work of the Organizational Capacity Building division by convening training and technical assistance opportunities both in person and virtually. These would occur at Partnership conferences and events, state and regional association conferences, webinars, online meetings, etc. Respond to CAA, Association, and State CSBG Lead Agency requests.
Work in close partnership with the Director of Organizational Capacity Building to implement the Pathways to Excellence program, including through the provision of technical assistance and the development of tools and resources. Support resource development efforts through development of partnerships, research of opportunities, and development of proposals for grants and other resource opportunities. Participate in planning and training activities for the Partnership’s Annual Convention and Management and Leadership Training Conference focused on Organizational Capacity Building. Build and maintain strong working relationships with network stakeholders, including local Community Action Agencies, State Associations, National Partners, and Federal Funders. Regular overnight, out of state travel is required approximately 40% of the time, including to the Partnership’s Annual Convention and Management and Leadership Training Conference. If not a CCAP, or certified ROMA Professional, certification must be pursued as soon as the individual is eligible. Other duties as assigned.
Directly supervises program staff as appropriate.
- At least 6-8 years of experience in managing human service programs; developing and providing project-specific T/TA; project management/reporting; and providing staffing support to a board, committee, commission, or coalition. Experience working directly with Community Action Agencies and/or State Associations preferred, but not required. Four-year Bachelor of Arts or Sciences degree in business, public administration, social work, or a related field of study. Master’s degree preferred. Experience may be substituted for education requirements. Experience providing training in person and virtually. Knowledge and experience with the principles of risk management, quality improvement, and program management; nonprofit management, and governance issues. Excellent oral, written, and group communication skills, including public speaking. Excellent communication skills, including public speaking. Understanding of the nature and purpose of associations. Proficient in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Zoom/virtual meeting, and social media.

Ability to think creatively and be a key contributor to Partnership goals. Certified Community Action Professional. Will be expected to pursue CCAP once eligible if not already certified. ROMA Certified (Trainer or Implementer). Will be expected to pursue ROMA certification if not already certified. Pathways to Excellence Peer Reviewer/Implementer preferred but not required. Ability to work remotely while on work travel.
