Principal Associate - Business Continuity/Resiliency Management

As a Principal Associate in Capital One's Retail Banking, Premium Products & Emerging Merchant Businesses (EMB) Risk Office, you will apply your analytical and delivery skills to our highest profile Risk Management projects. You will partner across three divisions: Retail, Emerging Businesses and Premium Products, to develop and support cutting-edge Risk solutions in a manner that supports innovation and protects our customers, shareholders, and associates. You will partner with peers and senior leaders, second and third lines of defense, as well as lines of business to drive organizational change in order to better manage the Company's risk in an open, collaborative environment where new ideas and solutions are both welcomed and rewarded.

Retail Banking, Premium Products & EMB Risk professionals are experienced, well-trained, and progressive individuals that operate within a highly collaborative team environment to deliver value-added risk services to our business partners. The Principal Associate candidate will be a highly-motivated Risk Management professional with excellent support, analytical, planning, collaboration, and communication skills. This role will support Retail, Emerging Businesses and Premium Products line of businesses in developing and maintaining robust business continuity plans, strategies and recovery tasks.

Responsibilities:

This role supports the Retail Banking, Premium Products & EMB Risk horizontal program governance for Business Continuity Management. Specifically, this role will:
  • Provide program guidance and support for Business Continuity, Crisis Management and Resiliency efforts
  • Support testing requirements to ensure all areas of Business Continuity testing requirements are adequately met (workplace and workforce strategic testing, third party application and service provider testing, third party functionality testing, and Technology testing oversight)
  • Assist with control and event/issue management to include identification, tracking and mitigation plans
  • Provide oversight to Resiliency Testing of our owned technology applications
  • Provide Audit and Exam management support
  • Contribute to overarching program maturity in alignment to the Enterprise Business Continuity Standard and Policy
  • Partner with other Line of Business Risk offices, 2nd Line Risk Management functions and other appropriate stakeholders and partners


Basic Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent certification
  • At least 2 years of Business Continuity or Disaster Recovery, or Project Management experience
  • At least one year of experience using Google Suite of products (Slides, Docs, Sheets, Gmail, Forms, Sites)


Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of Risk Management or compensatory experience
  • ABCP or CBCP Certification from DRI or other BC/DR Accredited program
  • 3+ years operating in a cross functional capacity or managing complex initiatives
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Strong problem solving and influencing skills

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

Location is New York City: $114,766 - $135,398 for Principal Risk Specialist

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
