Westat's 9-week summer internship experiences will be hosted virtually, or on-site at our U.S. office-based locations. Our interns can expect to work 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. The program will begin on Monday, June 5, 2023, and end on August 4, 2023.

During the summer internship program, you will be assigned a project deliverable and will present during the final week of the program. You will also attend educational programs and networking events.

This position is remote or may be based on-site in Rockville, Maryland. The pay rate for this role is $20/hr. Interns are responsible for securing their own housing should they select an on-site role.

In this role you will research, write, and present a health equity-related report. Specifically, you will research and recommend ways in which the government agencies can better ensure that information publicly reported on informational websites is equitable to patients and their caregivers looking for a doctor or other type of clinician. This role is an excellent opportunity to be involved with all areas of a health equity focused project.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Qualitative research
  • Written communications activities, which may include website content, policy briefs, reports, and presentations

Basic Qualifications:
  • Currently a rising junior or senior enrolled in an undergraduate program in social sciences or a health-related area
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Teams, Word, Excel and Powerpoint
