Job Description

Our product team is part of a larger group focused on the transformation of Finance at Capital One. On Demand Finance is what we are calling our transformation journey and we have a clear vision of the destination. We are currently focused on reimagining our associate experience with data, reducing manual work and enabling associates to leverage streaming and enriched data so they can provide real-time insights that enable enhanced decision making at every level. Ultimately our Product journey will transform the Finance organization and how we develop and deliver critical business outcomes, in addition to how we engage with partners across Capital One.

As the Sr Manager, Product Management in Product Operations, your role will be to bring your deep Product Management experience and expertise to the table and help our entire group create and grow our products into something that our finance associates will love. You'll work with internal customers and stakeholders to determine what is working (or not) in the Product Management function, establish standards and train the entire team on how to conduct product research and develop new features, own product operations initiatives, manage and prioritize roadmaps, and establish best practices for how Agile product management will be practiced by Product Owners in their Agile development teams.

You will also have accountability for standardizing best practices and ensuring the full product management lifecycle is implemented across all of our product teams responsible for delivering products to our Finance customers. This is a highly collaborative role, where success requires being able to get into the weeds with the product and development teams, as well as being able to influence and engage executive and internal stakeholders in support of the product vision.

As the Manager, Product Management in Product Operations, you will:
  • Help transform how we forecast and impact how we make decisions that affect our company's future
  • Help define the processes that create amazingly intuitive solutions that deliver business value and improved associate experience
  • Confidently help create and communicate the entire group's Product strategy across organizations and teams to influence stakeholders to align behind the objectives
  • Standardize cross-team best-practices for road mapping, goal setting, story writing, product execution, testing, and product roll-out strategy
  • Build product learning agendas and OKRs to measure success/failure
  • Execute with a sense of urgency to help the team deliver solutions and on priorities
  • Work independently across geographically diverse teams.
  • Demonstrate strong ability to intuitively identify impediments on the critical path and unblock them.
  • Use excellent communication skills in navigating a matrixed organization
  • Regularly and systematically use data to uncover opportunities, track product and team performance, and drive decision making
  • Influence cross-team agendas proactively to deliver outcomes while balancing short and long term objectives
  • Champion the use of the right technology to deliver on product operations initiatives and strategic intents


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience
  • At least 3 years of experience in digital product management
  • At least 3 years of experience in one of the major Agile frameworks or methodologies (such as Scrum, XP, Kanban, Scaled Agile, etc)


Preferred Qualifications:
  • MBA or Master's degree
  • At least 5 years of experience in digital product management
  • At least 5 years of experience in at least two of the major Agile frameworks or methodologies (such as Scrum, XP, Kanban, Scaled Agile, etc)
  • At least 2 years experience with Product Operations
  • At least 2 Agile certifications (like CSM, CSPO, CSD, APM, POPM, etc)
  • At least 2 years of financial services or FinTech product experience

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

Location is New York City: $188,814 - $222,758 for Sr. Mgr, Product Management

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
