International Tax CoordinatorGeorge Mason University International Tax Office is seeking candidates for a part-time coordinator position (up to 29 hours per week) with the possible transition to full-time wage employment, depending on workload and performance. The employee will have the opportunity to develop skills such as data entry and reconciliation, tax analysis, and policy expertise.George Mason University has a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of excellence and diversity among its faculty and staff, and strongly encourages candidates to apply who will enrich Mason's academic and culturally inclusive environment.About the Department:The International Tax Office is responsible for ensuring the University complies with U.S. tax and immigration law when making payments to or on behalf of its foreign visitors, vendors, and services outside the U.S.Responsibilities:Maintenance and processing of the immigration and tax data via the Foreign National Information System and International Tax Navigator;Perform routine reconciliations;Assist with monthly, quarterly, and yearly tax reconciliation;Review and analyze the U.S. tax status of foreign vendors and scholarship recipients under the supervision of the International Tax Manager when the department's workload requires; andOther administrative duties as assigned.The selected candidate will be given training and access to appropriate Mason systems and must be able to handle confidential information and data as per Mason's policies. Current Mason students are not eligible to receive access to some of these systems and therefore cannot be considered for this positionRequired Qualifications:B.S. in Accounting or related field, or relevant experience in accounting, immigration regulations, taxation, data maintenance, processing, or reconciliation. Strong academic credentials for candidates who do not possess relevant experience or education (3.5 GPA);Ability to deliver high-quality, accurate work;Demonstrated problem-solving, attention to detail, and strong communication skills;Ability to prioritize tasks, balance competing priorities, and meet deadlines;Microsoft Office proficiency and willingness to learn and use tax software; andExcellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with non-native English speakers.Preferred Qualifications:Experience applying tax law to non-immigrant visa holders and foreign vendors;Experience processing information for entry into an ERP system or other software applications; andExperience performing other relevant accounting duties.
