Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE)Multiple Open-Rank, Tenured/Tenure-Track Faculty PositionsThe George Mason University Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) within the College of Engineering and Computing invites applications for one or more tenured or tenure-track faculty positions beginning Fall 2023. Senior candidates with established records of outstanding research and excellent teaching will be eligible for tenured associate professor or professor positions. Applicants at the rank of Associate or Full Professor must have interests in outreach, curriculum development, and significant experience in an academic setting in teaching for at least six years post PhD.Preferred Qualifications:Applicants in all areas of Computer Engineering will be given serious consideration. We are particularly interested in candidates in the areas of hardware security and trust; heterogeneous computing; hardware accelerator design for applied machine learning; neuromorphic hardware design; internet of things and cyber-physical systems design and security; secure, privacy-preserving, and trusted machine learning; computer architectures based on emerging memory or beyond-CMOS technologies; low-power design methodologies; edge computing and large-scale intelligent systems; computing system security; quantum computing; reconfigurable computing architectures; resilient VLSI design; applications of machine learning in computer-aided design, cryptographic engineering, cybersecurity, etc. Preference will be given to senior candidates with proven leadership skills, capable of directing a research center, and successfully competing for major research grants involving multiple faculty members. Candidates who can build collaborations with other departments within the College and across the University will benefit from the strong support and encouragement for interdisciplinary collaboration with the College and the University. The Department and the College place high value on engaging students from traditionally underrepresented groups, and candidates from these groups are especially encouraged to apply.About the Department:The Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Department offers bachelor's and master's degrees in both Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering, a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering, as well as master's degrees in Digital Forensics and Telecommunications. The department is home to over 30 faculty members and over 820 students, including about 280 graduate students. Our research portfolio is thriving, with faculty actively engaged in research in a diverse range of fields such as bioengineering, communications and networking, computer engineering, controls and robotics, cyber-physical systems, cyber security, digital forensics, machine learning, nanoelectronics, power systems, signal processing, and space-based systems.The ECE Department also supports other Mason Engineering programs through interdisciplinary collaboration in both education and research and has close ties with other departments such as the Departments of Bioengineering, Computer Science, Cyber Security Engineering, Information Sciences and Technology, and Mechanical Engineering.
