AARP Services, Inc., founded in 1999, is a wholly-owned taxable subsidiary of AARP. AARP Services manages the provider relationships for and performs quality control oversight of the wide range of products and services that carry the AARP name and are made available by independent providers as benefits to AARP's millions of members. The provider offers currently span health products, financial products, travel and leisure products, and life event services. Specific products include Medicare supplemental insurance; credit cards, auto and home, mobile home and motorcycle insurance, life insurance and annuities; member discounts on rental cars, cruises, vacation packages and lodging; special offers on technology and gifts; pharmacy services and legal services. AARP Services also engages in new product development activities for AARP and provides certain consulting services to outside companies.

As the Manager of Northeast Digital Sales for Media Sales based out of New York, NY, you will manage a team of sales professionals with a primary goal of driving ad revenue. This includes overseing all sales activity and working with the sales reps to identify new customer opportunities and managing contact information for sales prospects. You will provide ongoing leadership to the Northeast sales team, joining sales presentations, keeping them focused and motivated as well as offering industry knowledge and insights. As the manager, you will also work as part of the sales management team to identify opportunities to streamline processes and to develop new procedures that support the business unit/department.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the Northeast Digital sales force (both staff and external rep firms) including recruiting, leading sales activities, and overseeing account management.
  • Maintains strong client, agency, and provider relationships and collaborates with sales account managers to identify best-in-class client solutions.
  • Collaborates across the organization and maintains excellent communication and relationships with internal partners to achieve objectives.
  • Works with Northeast digital sales team to identify top prospects, categories of focus, target accounts, and opportunities for sales to develop new business.
  • Works as part of the sales management team on prospecting for new clients based on territory assignment/category/or other opportunities.
  • Embraces new media channels and products to stay up to date with market trends. Helps to onboard and roll out new products and programs the NE team can take to clients.
  • Oversees client interactions through email, phone, in-person meetings/presentations, and both virtual and in-person entertainment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of sales/management/media experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience related to the duties of the position.
  • Previous experience managing a team of sales professional preferred.
  • Solid interpersonal skills required.
  • Excellent follow up and team leadership skills required.
  • Experience with competitive media required.
  • Knowledge of ad sales and Northeast territory required.
  • Previous experience in digital sales.
  • Occasional overnight travel to assigned territories.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Salary Range: Minimum $135,000 - Maximum $157,500

Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA)

AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories. This position will be 100% remote through the end of 2023 with opportunities for in-office work, as needed, in the New York, NY office and include as travel within the Northeast region of the United States.
