Job Description

The Washington Post's Features team is hiring an assignment editor on its general assignment Style team.

We are looking for a versatile, experienced editor able to sharpen the copy of writers and critics on must-read stories that build off the people and ideas at the center of cultural conversation. We want an editor who can identify original and unexpected angles in news events -- especially in the realms of identity, lifestyle trends and fashion -- and collaborate with reporters to write them in a distinctive way.

The ideal candidate must possess top-notch editing skills and experience working in a variety of story forms, including trend pieces, daily stories, profiles and narratives.

This position is based in our Washington newsroom.

Those interested should upload a cover letter, résumé and memo on how you would approach the role to our jobs portal by Jan. 10. All application materials can be uploaded to the same field. The cover letter should be addressed to Executive Features Editor Ben Williams, Deputy Features Editor Mitch Rubin and Managing Editor Krissah Thompson.
