To learn more visit https://science.gmu.edu/About the Position:The I-Corps Sites program was established by the NSF to provide basic entrepreneurial foundations to students and faculty who want to explore the feasibility of bringing their innovations to the marketplace. As part of this activity, the NSF is also focused on developing local innovation ecosystems that can be integrated into the NSF's national network of entrepreneurs, investors, scientists, and mentors, to enhance the Nation's innovation capabilities.This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about innovation and enjoys working with GMU students and faculty to explore the commercial and technical merits of innovative ideas. The PM will help to establish novel programs for enhancing the innovation culture at GMU, with the long-term goal of creating more university startups and teams that can participate in the National I-Corps program. The successful candidate will work closely with the I-Corps Site leadership at Mason to help recruit participants into the program, deliver the I-Corps curriculum, and engage regional stakeholders. The Program Manager will be responsible for the management and coordination for all the I-Corps site programs and operations, including outreach, promotion of the programs and communication for the GMU I-Corps site. The PM will also lead I-Corps events, providing support and strategic communication, by overseeing website and content, as well as organizing and facilitating connections to entrepreneurs, mentors, and investors.Additional duties include but are not limited to:Responsible for the project management and coordination for all I-Corps Site programming and operations, including course offerings, events logistics, and program promotion;Management of the application process for all I-Corps Site applicants and placement into cohorts;Responsible for outreach, communication, and reporting for the GMU I-Corp Site in collaboration with the program leadership;Develop relationships with I-Corps teams and mentors;Promote and market I-Corps program and upcoming courses to the Mason community; Create and update program materials, as needed;Promote and market I-Corps events such as hackathons and fireside chats with successful entrepreneurs and investors and social media postings. Create I-Corps digital marketing e-newsletter for the I-Corps community;Lead the planning and execution of I-Corps events, such as hackathons and fireside chats with successful entrepreneurs and investors. This work will include sending communications, making A/V preparations, and tracking attendance for both in-person and virtual programming;Work with I-Corps teams as a mentor and, when appropriate, coordinate with the I-Corps leadership to evaluate technology disclosures and support teams with customer discovery and tech commercialization;Responsible for scheduling and organization of virtual regional courses; attending in-person and virtual sessions, and providing logistical support;Support I-Corps teams by facilitating connections to entrepreneurs, mentors, and other available resources;Assist teams with applications to national-level NSF I-Corps program; participate in I-Corps leadership meetings, and other institutional efforts;Develop and administer impact and experience survey results; oversee team metrics collection and reporting in partnership with the leadership;Oversee maintenance of I-Corps website and content, was well as the program's presence on relevant social media platforms; andCreate strategic events and develop new programs that emphasize Lean methodology.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and related experience;Project oversight and management experience, with proven ability to plan, develop, coordinate, supervise and organize programs and activities;Experience with the I-Corps program;Experience with startup creation; andDemonstrated skill in effective communication and ability to work with diverse students, faculty, staff and administrative populations.Preferred Qualifications:Advanced degree in STEM preferred;Demonstrated professional work experience (typically 10+ years);Experience in technology commercialization is highly desired;Experience with international entrepreneurship is highly desired; andExperience working with startup companies in the setting of university-affiliated technology parks is highly desirable.
