Our faculty are involved in graduate programs such as the M.S. in Biology, the M.S. in Environmental Science and Policy, the Ph.D. in Environmental Science and Policy, and the Ph.D. in Biosciences. We offer a broad curriculum with concentrations available in: A) Biopsychology; B) Biotechnology and Molecular Biology; C) Environmental and Conservation Biology; D) Microbiology; and E) Bioinformatics. The bachelor's degree programs in Biology provide a sound liberal arts education with substantial experience in quantitative and analytical thought, along with preparation for a related profession.Responsibilities:The main objective of this position is to serve as the Purchaser for the Department of Biology. The incumbent will work with faculty, staff, course coordinators and with Purchasing to order supplies, equipment, and manage inventory. The main responsibilities of this position include ensuring compliance with University, state, and federal laws and regulations, working collaboratively with Biology faculty/staff, graduate and undergraduate students and working with the Grants and Finance Analyst to insure funding for purchasing.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in a business-related field and some relevant work experience desired or an equivalent combination of education and experience;Knowledge of Microsoft Office;Ability to learn new computer software as well as basic skills in spreadsheets, word processing, etc.;Knowledge of purchasing procedures;Knowledge of policies regarding procurement;Ability to work well within the department and extramurally with other departments within the university, and with vendors, contractors and others outside the university; andAbility to work accurately with minimum supervision.Preferred Qualifications:Intermediate Excel experience; andFamiliarity with George Mason University procurement processes.
