GEICO Technology Solutions is seeking a highly motivated Azure SRE/DevOps Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will demonstrate their ability to think strategically and be innovative while working in an agile and collaborative team-oriented environment. The candidate must be comfortable working with analysts, developers, DevOps, and architects across multiple teams to collaboratively design creative solutions to complex problems. The candidate will support in proactively ensuring the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability, stability, scalability, and performance. Must have intellectual curiosity and a desire to learn new skills and technologies along with an excellent work ethic and great communication skills. Objectives of this Role* Bring industry operations knowledge and expertise to our organization to solve unique challenges* Work very closely with our Technology Operations Center (TOC) to provide enterprise level operations (including oncall) and engineering support for our critical services and platforms* Bring new ideas on the table, demonstrates unique and informed viewpoints to develop real-world solutions to solve our problems* Build software and systems to manage platform infrastructure and applications to make them more reliable* Improve availability, resiliency, performance, quality and time-to-market of our suite of software solutionsResponsibilities* Build tools and design processes that help improve enterprise level observability and system resiliency of our critical services and platforms* Participate in Correction of Error (COE) process to help provide root cause analysis (RCA) of prior incidents* Analyze metrics from historical COEs to assist in root cause correlations and to identify repeat offenders* Assist in GameDay scenario identification, planning and execution* Triage site availability Incidents and proactively work towards reducing MTTR for impactful incidents* Be responsible for automating tasks that directly impact site reliability* Monitor Capacity & Utilization and work closely with the Infrastructure team to orchestrate scale-up/down of Backend Services* Partner with various stakeholders including TOC, 360 Views, Observability and Service owners to help build monitoring dashboards and other service level health indicators* On call requirement on a rotational basis for production support 24x7* Create Ops TE knowledge articles and review them on periodic intervalsRequirements:* 6+ years of professional software development experience* 4+ years of experience in open source frameworks* 5+ years of experience with architecture and design* 5+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or other cloud services (certification is preferred)* 3+ years of experience with Site Reliability Engineering* 1+ years of people management experience is a plus* Fluency and Specialization with at least two modern languages such as Java, C++, Python or C# including object-oriented design* Knowledge of Industry wide application best practices* Knowledge of micro-services oriented architecture and extensible REST APIs* Building architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and current systems* Knowledge of developer tooling across the software development life cycle (task management, source code, building, deployment, operations, real-time communication)* Strong PowerShell or other scripting skills* Understanding of security protocols & products eg, Active Directory, Windows Authentication, SAML, OAuth* A proactive approach to spotting problems, areas for improvement, and performance bottlenecks* Proven expertise with the GameDay and Chaos tooling suite (Chaos monkey, Gremlin, Azure Chaos studio, Mangle, Chaos Blade etc.)* Extensive experience with various observability tools eg, Splunk, Dynatrace, App Insight, MoogSoft, Quantum Metrics etc.* Experience analyzing process/memory dumps, network tracing and packet analysis* Experience working with various DBMS, particularly SQL* Working knowledge of networking and Azure network (subscription, security zoning, etc.) * Experience working in agile environments (Scrum/Kanban/SAFe)* Strong communication & leadership skillsEducation:* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience The safety of our associates is GEICO's highest priority.
