Position Summary: The Systems Engineer is a strategic partner in operations with responsibility for leading and implementing an engineering strategy to achieve required business results globally. The position is directly responsible for defining and implementing all warehouse design and equipment standards supporting safety, quality, and efficiency. This position performs as liaison and relationship builder to internal customers to build new value across the organization that focuses on improving the external customer experience to drive customer allegiance. This position provides leadership mentorship that enables Global Distribution to achieve higher efficiency's and financial goals. The Global Distribution Logistics Engineer applies the scientific and mathematical principles of engineering to the process of distributing consumer products in order to build a more efficient infrastructure. Significant Duties/Responsibilities: Logistics Engineers are in charge of crafting and analyzing the systems employed in distributing those goods and services. They evaluate all aspects of methods of distribution (supply chain) with the ultimate goal of improving efficiency, thus generating higher profits for their employers. Distribution Logistics Engineers must have a basic familiarity with Distribution and Logistics practices, as the relationship between supplier, Distribution and customer is paramount to the industry. (Technical) Innovation and development of Distribution Infrastructure and Processes Understanding on how automation interacts with MRP systems Understanding of racking types and installation requirements Understanding of all types of power industrial trucks (Technical) Engineering Expertise for Global Distribution & Logistics Analysis, Projects, and Operations Prepare Logistics strategies or conceptual designs for Distribution facilities using CAD Develop and maintain Cost Estimates, Forecasts and Cost Models Confirmed understanding of conveyors, vertical lifts, and automated storage and retrieval systems. Performs all job duties within ISO standards, regulatory or statutory requirements, consistent with the code of ethics and the Thermo Fisher 4-I values. Other duties and responsibilities, as needed. Requirements: Bachelor s degree in engineering or related field preferred. High school education with equivalent applicable work experience may be substituted. Five plus years working with in a warehouse supporting equipment and racking installations. Able to generate CAD (computer-aided design) drawings of warehouse racking projects Strong leadership and decision-making ability. Knowledge, experience or training in Lean techniques and proficient in process auditing. Possess technical engineering ability to understand sophisticated level of product line knowledge. Possess a continuous process improvement approach with the ability to optimally lead and handle change. Strong project management, communication, and organizational skills. Proficient in use of Microsoft Office. Ability to travel as required, <30% of the time. Working conditions require the capability to sit, stand, walk, bend, climb stairs, and work at a computer station and on manufacturing shop floor. Ability to work effectively in a team setting.
