The GEICO Technology Operations (GTO) department is seeking a highly motivated individual with an inclination for problem solving and customer service to join the Technology Operations Center (TOC) as a TOC Specialist. As a TOC Specialist, you will monitor the availability and performance of our business applications, coordinate the response to Major Incidents (MI), perform various operational functions, and support daily job schedules. You will be expected to work on tasks that are medium to high in complexity with minimal support and complete them with quality within the expected timeframe. You may also be assigned to projects that support GTO and TOC initiatives. You must also be comfortable working with analysts, developers, App DevOps, and architects across multiple teams to collaboratively design creative solutions to complex problems. A TOC Specialist's primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Provide Tier 2 support to incident tickets received from monitoring/alerting systems & end-users. Coordinate the response to Major Incidents (MI) to ensure a timely restoration of service. Monitor abnormalities and execute restoration procedures following documented processes. Perform diagnostics to remediate detected/reported incidents. Document and improve procedures for use by other members of the Technology Operations Center (TOC). Support change activities by executing documented procedures. Desired Qualifications: 3+ years of previous IT experience in a Network Operations Center (NOC), Help Desk, Operations, LAN/Desktop, Application Production Support, or similar environment. Working knowledge of TCP/IP, networking & security. Working knowledge in one or more of the following areas: Windows Servers, UNIX/Linux, Databases (SQL, Oracle, DB2), Mainframe operations, and Networking. Strong telephone etiquette and the ability to deal effectively with end users, peers, and management under stressful conditions. Excellent verbal & written communication skills are required. Ability to comprehend and follow documented guidelines & procedures. Proven analytical & problem-solving skills & the ability to organize and prioritize several tasks at one time. Familiarity with the ITIL or MOF frameworks is a plus. Understanding of Agile methodologies, such as Kanban. Good understanding of Cloud Computing. Azure Fundamentals (AZ 900) Certification is a plus. Experience with Splunk and Dynatrace Intermediate PowerShell Scripting Skills CompTia Certifications such as IT Fundamentals, A+, Network+, or Security+ would be a plus AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner certification is a plus Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is a plus. This position is for shift work, and the schedule may include weekends and/or nights. This position will be on-site at the Chevy Chase, MD Office. However, if an associate in a location other than Chevy Chase, MD Office is selected, that associate must be willing to relocate at his/her own expense to the Chevy Chase, MD Office.
