Job Summary The Aerospace Corporation seeks a Government Relations Strategist. The space environment is changing fast, with new threats, new commercial technologies, and new government organizations. For Aerospace to fulfill its nationally chartered mission of solving the hardest problems for the nation's space enterprise, Aerospace must understand the changes in the space environment to apply its technical expertise where it is most needed. The individual will work in close collaboration with senior leaders across Aerospace responsible for relationships with specific government organizations. The successful candidate will become an integral part of Aerospace's internal corporate strategy formulation and government- and public-facing presentation with opportunities for ever greater responsibility. This position will be a hybrid position in Crystal City, Virginia with mix of remote and in-office work What You'll Be Doing This position will work through the Principal Director for Government Relations to support the Vice President for Defense Space Operations in ensuring Aerospace understands the newest developments in the nation's space enterprise and the implications of those developments. Devise and propose practical steps to respond to changes in the nation's space enterprise collaborators and processes to advance Aerospace's mission and strategy Lead weekly executive-level meetings to bring this information to bear and initiate action. Represent the organization among various industry groups and associations, and prepare and implement strategies to improve the value of such groups Develop, drive, and lead legislative and executive branch outreach strategy and activities Devise, prepare and edit correspondence, white papers, presentations, and other communications Convene, attend and prepare for conferences, meetings, special events, etc. Identify and track relevant federal public policy issues and legislation in assigned areas that could present a threat or opportunity to Aerospace's business in the US and share legislative developments with working groups and company leadership What You Need to be Successful Minimum Requirements: Government Relations Strategist IV Bachelor's degree in a relevant subject area 10 or more years of proven experience in the government or commercial sector Strong skills in developing data-based visualizations, such as expertise in R, Tableau, Python, Adobe products and other visualization suites Excellent written and oral communication skills - organize complex materials and concepts in clear and logical manner Strong analytical skills. Must have the ability to read and interpret legislation and regulation to understand changes in process Ability to work with all levels of management Self-starter, able to handle time and multi-task effectively in a fast-paced environment Be eligible to obtain and maintain a government security clearance Government Relations Strategist V Same requirements as a Government Relations Strategist III noted above, with the following exception: 15 or more years of proven experience in the government or commercial sector How You Can Stand Out It would be impressive if you have one or more of these: An advanced degree Experience working within or analyzing the US government Detailed and sophisticated understanding of US government processes and space collaborators including the White House, Department of Defense (DOD), National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), and other intelligence community and civil space agencies .
