Job Summary The National Systems Group serves as the technical adviser to the Intelligence Community and its mission partners involved in the collection and distribution of national and tactical intelligence, including electronics programs, advanced technologies, ground and communications, imagery programs, and systems engineering and launch. The Imagery Programs Division (IPD) / GEOINT Development Office (GDO) has an opportunity for a Principal Engineer to serve as the Chief Engineer for the program providing technical guidance across a broad range of imaging science and systems engineering related topics. In this strategic position, you will leverage your domain knowledge and Aerospace's broad/deep technical expertise to solve our customer's greatest problems and enterprise challenges. This position requires 100% on site work in Chantilly, VA What You'll Be Doing Advise IPD/GDO management and customer senior leadership on planning and executing critical, high dollar value national security space system satellite acquisition decisions. Formulate, coordinate, and communicate technical solutions to complex segment and enterprise level performance and development issues across the customer organization, the contractor team and the user community Foster collaboration between community organizations to identify desired capabilities and advocate effective capability adoption and exploitation Direct predictive modeling and simulation of next generation intelligence collection architectures in support of complex system of systems and satellite design trades Work across programmatic and organizational boundaries to influence the integration of new capabilities into the overall enterprise via agile development Communicate programmatic and technical issues and provide independent recommendations to Aerospace senior management, the Government customer and other contractors. Integrate Aerospace activities to focus the strength of the corporation on helping the customer realize future capabilities. Provide inputs to the corporate research planning to increase alignment with the customer's goals, and strategic plans. Assess technical and programmatic risks. Support system level trade studies and requirements definition and verification. What You Need to be Successful Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in remote sensing, sensor engineering, physics, or a related technical discipline 15 or more years of relevant experience with progressive responsibility Demonstrated understanding of GEOINT systems and phenomenology and familiarity with the mission of the NRO customer and its mission partners. Demonstrated performance leveraging matrixed engineering support to deliver major studies or products Demonstrated ability to identify and solve ambiguous problems in support of customer needs. Demonstrated ability to understand and discuss technical concepts and new ideas with internal and external partners. Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver compelling recommendations for senior leaders. Proven ability to work effectively in customer/developer/consultant teams. This position requires a current and active TS/SCI security clearance and polygraph, which is issued by the US government. US citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance. Proven ability to lead projects comprised of program office, ETG, and PSL personnel. Demonstrated experience working across organizational interfaces.
