Counseling Faculty (multiple positions, open rank)The George Mason University Counseling Graduate Program in the College of Education and Human Development seeks two dedicated individuals to join the faculty of this nationally respected academic program. The College of Education and Human Development (cehd.gmu.edu) is a dynamic academic unit with a wide range of collaborative field-based programs, consequential research initiatives, and outreach partnerships with schools, businesses, and community agencies. CEHD thus provides an ideal site for educational researchers and scholar-practitioners with an applied, collaborative orientation, and an interest in preparing counseling professionals for the challenges of the 21st century.George Mason University is located in Northern Virginia, just west of Washington, D.C., in a region characterized by significant cultural diversity, leadership in technology, and excellent PK-12 schools and community agency facilities. Term faculty are responsible for covering a broad range of substantive and clinical courses (base 4-4 teaching load) while also engaging in service within and beyond the Counseling program. Tenure-line faculty are expected to lead a consequential program of research and external funding in addition to their teaching and service assignments (base 2-2 teaching load).Required Qualifications:All applicants must have an earned doctorate, experience teaching and mentoring graduate students, and a demonstrated commitment to multicultural counseling, advocacy, and leadership. Candidates for a tenured position must also have a productive portfolio of research, including externally funded research, or demonstrate clear potential for such productivity.Preferred Qualifications:Preference will be given to candidates who clearly manifest the College's core values (collaboration, ethical leadership, innovation, research-based practice, and social justice) and a professional commitment to multiculturalism, advocacy, and leadership in their teaching, research, and service activities. In addition, preference will be given to candidates who have a graduate degree from a CACREP-accredited academic program, experience with CACREP policies and processes, and significant applied experiences in the field of counseling.
