GEICO Technology Solutions' Customer Correspondence team is looking for a highly experienced and motivated Distinguished Architect to assist with building modern cutting-edge solutions and services to deliver digital correspondence platform across all communication channels. GEICO Technology Customer Correspondence team is responsible for building Enterprise services and solutions to support both paper and electronic customer correspondence that are consumed by Tech Sales and Service applications across multiple lines of business (Auto, Commercial, Umbrella and MOAT). We utilize modern development platforms and languages to develop custom solutions/services that enhance GEICO's digital capabilities in Customer correspondences for all lines of business. Responsibilities: Works with Principal and Sr. Engineers to innovate and build new systems, improve and enhance existing systems as well as identify new opportunities to apply their knowledge to solve critical problems Lead Strategy and Execution of a technical roadmap that will increase the velocity of delivering products and unlock new engineering capabilities Building the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems Lead collaboration efforts with software vendors, Tech partners, and business stakeholders Consistently share best practices and improve processes within and across teams Lead in design sessions and code reviews with peers to elevate the quality of engineering across the organization Define, create and support reusable application components/patterns from a business and technology perspective Train and mentor junior engineers to strengthen the technical expertise of the team Influence and educate executives Analyze cost and forecast, incorporating them into business plans Determine and support resource requirements, evaluate operational processes, measure outcomes to ensure desired results, and demonstrate adaptability and sponsoring continuous learning Create and publish technical / architecture / design guidance documentation for Engineers on the teams to follow as best practices when building systems and services. Required Skills: 10+ years of professional software development experience 8+ years of experience with architecture and design 6+ years of experience in open source frameworks 4+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service 3+ years of people management experience Deep technical expertise in their domain Strong understanding of web servers and the web application hosting runtime. Strong understanding of Azure PaaS (Cloud Services and AKS) and IaaS services. Understanding of Azure Ecosystem (Azure Cloud services, IaaS VM, Kubernetes services, Service Bus, Azure Storage, Cosmos DB, Azure DevOps) Working knowledge Azure PaaS Cloud Compute platforms ( Kubernetes services, App Services , Azure functions , Logic Apps ) to reimagine design / migration for existing on prem and Cloud native hosted applications. Working knowledge of one of the Infrastructure as Code (IaaC) Enterprise tools Terraform (preferred), Bicep to support Cloud infrastructure automation and policy governance . Existing Operational Portals such as Azure Portal Understanding of Active Directory, Windows Authentication, SAML, OAuth. Strong understanding of .Net Frameworks and associated runtime environments. Strong understanding of HTML-5, JavaScript/TypeScript, C#, XML, JSON and RESTful Web Services. Experience using frameworks such as Angular, ASP.Net MVC, .Net Core. Experience use of Visual Studio 2019, VS Code and VSTS GIT for source control and Azure DevOps CICD. Experience writing unit tests using unit testing frameworks like MoQ, Fakes Micro-services-oriented architecture and extensible REST APIs Powershell scripting, Azure Storage services, MoveIT and Automation Run books knowledge desired as we move our batch jobs to the cloud Deep understanding of the agile environment (Scrum/Kanban/SAFe) Monitoring Portals: Splunk or Application Insights Continuous delivery and infrastructure as code Must be able to follow complex instructions, resolve conflicts or facilitate conflict resolution, and have strong organization/priority setting skills Must be able to learn and apply large amounts of technical and procedural information, and to follow published standards and processes Must be knowledgeable of infrastructure tools and management techniques and able to follow standards and processes that have been published Must be able to demonstrate a capacity to learn new technical concepts and to adapt to new technologies quickly Ability to excel in a fast-paced, startup-like environment Desired Skills: Insurance application knowledge on document generation and regulatory considerations is preferred. Experience on any Document Composition Software tool is desirable Any application migration experience from HP Extream to Smart Comm would be highly valuable. Knowledge of BMC Software for batch management services, to include operator, scheduling, and Admin functions. Knowledge of Batch programming language to create .bat script file executables. Management and maintenance of operation job documentation and playbooks.
