A$ A' "A' ?I & C Engineering ProfessionalContract: 12 monthsLocation: Manassas, VAJob Description:Instrumentation and Controls Engineer in Manassas, VAWork on projects including state of the art industrial and commercial facilities.Accountable for schedule and technical quality of challenging engineering tasks, as you gain familiarity with the client's expectations, scope, budget, and schedule.Provide on-site assistance during startup, coordinate work activities with other staff members and the discipline lead.Multi-discipline, highly interactive team will produce designs for electrical circuits and panels utilizing control applications, designs for control systems for a variety of processes, and develop options and optimizations for all aspects of the process control, instrumentation, and automation.Duties:Responsible for the development and implementation of instrumentation control for manufacturing process equipment and associated safety and automation systems.Provide engineering trouble-shooting and problem solving of existing equipment, and implementing system upgrades and modifications.Provide in process support of controls in a manufacturing environment.Design of facility control systems and SCADA projects.Design of P&ID's, loop drawings, and detailed wiring diagrams.Perform technical and business presentations with clients and employees.Perform quality reviews on designs performed by others.Participate in the development of proposals, budgets and schedules for process specific work.Work experience requirements:Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering10 years engineering experience with 5 Years of experience working with Instrumentation and ControlStrong communication skills both verbal and writtenStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsForward thinking, eager to learn best practices, and contribute with innovative ideasAbility to collaborate and work effectively in a variety of teams, including multi-disciplinary teamsKnowledge of PLC systems, industrial control networks, network security systems, motor control and power distribution systems.Experience designing PLC based systems including Allen Bradley, Schnieder Modicon, or Siemens based systems. .Control valve sizing and selection.Specification of temperature, pressure, flow, and analytical instrumentation.Control panel design. Understand NFPA and UL508A requirements for control panels.P&ID developmentEngineering specifications.Sequence of operation (SOO) development.Work close with client to develop project scope and support cost estimates.Knowledge of NFPA 70 (National Electric Code) and building codes.Proficient in using Microsoft Suite including MS Word, Access, Outlook and Excel and project delivery and schedule management software tools.Desired Skills:Ability to lead small design teamExperience in the semiconductor, pharmaceutical, or data center industries.Professional Engineer license in State of Virginia. Or ability to immediately obtain.Forward thinking, eager to learn best practices, and contribute with innovative ideasDisplayed ability to learn quickly and driven to broaden knowledge baseAbility to collaborate and work effectively in a variety of teams, including multi-disciplinary teamsIndustrial design experience including pharmaceutical manufacturing, semiconductor facilities, data center, or similar.Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit and NavisworksPassionate about buildings and constructionComments/Special InstructionsCandidates must be in driving distance of the site. They should be prepared to work onsite 2-3 days per week.
