We believe students and teachers best succeed when surrounded by an ecosystem of supports, including our central headquarters team that supports KIPP DC's 20 schools, 7,300 students, and 1,300 teachers, leaders, and staff members dedicated to this mission.Job DescriptionThe Manager of Professional Development plays a critical role in managing all aspects of the Fellowship in Special Education program which involves summer professional development, weekly evening professional development, coaching of Fellows, completion of 5 rigorous projects, and eligibility for certification through OSSE for over 65 DC educators each year. The Manager of Professional Development will be responsible for grading assignments, preparing and facilitating weekly professional development, conducting ongoing communication with Fellows, managing data and executing some additional administrative tasks. The position is a full-time, exempt role and reports to the Director of the Fellowship in Special Education.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Professional Development, Grading and Coaching (60%)Design and facilitate 3 full-days of introductory summer professional development sessions for Fellows including content and logisticsDesign, facilitate and/or support weekly 3 hour professional development sessions for teachers (180 hours total)Plan for and oversee logistics for virtual and asynchronous professional development hoursCoordinate with internal and external professional development facilitatorsGrade five assignments for each Fellow throughout the school year including providing scores and feedback and grading resubmissions when necessary Provide small group and individual coaching for Fellows Overseeing support and leave plans for individual FellowsProgram Management (30%)Maintain clear and prompt communication with all current Fellows and alumniOversee the use of all technological systems including Canvas and Nearpod (online platforms)Maintain clear systems for ongoing Fellows data collectionOversee recruitment and onboarding process of Fellows enrolling from outside of KIPP DCCraft weekly announcements that communicate programmatic updates and reminders to FellowsCollaborate and coordinate with the Knowledge and Learning Manager of Data SystemsManage and coordinate with Knowledge and Learning team interns throughout the summer and school year Plan Fellows' special events (holiday dinner, other celebrations, etc.)Knowledge and Learning Team (10%)Attend and actively participate in ongoing Knowledge and Learning Team meetings and retreatsAttend Knowledge and Learning Team events to represent Fellows and support the team (PD, interview days, celebrations, etc.)Attend and actively participate in ongoing KIPP DC professional development QualificationsREQUIREMENTS:Bachelor's Degree required, advanced degree is a plusMinimum of 5 years experience in some combination of special education teaching and/or leadershipOutstanding project management, organizational and event execution skills, and extraordinary attention to detailAbility to work one evening a week until 8:30pm during the school yearExpertise in and passion for special education and meeting the needs of all learnersExpertise in and experience facilitating to and teaching adults preferredExpertise in and experience coaching adults preferredCommitment to school communities and a customer service oriented perspectiveProject management organizational skills, with solid attention to detailCommitment to full ownership of excellent outcomes and work productsStrong written and communication skillsAdditional InformationTO APPLY:Please submit an online application through our website at If you have any questions, please direct them to our recruitment team via e-mail at careers@.
