Administrative Assistant (Temporary Position) George Mason University, University Life (UL), seeks a professional to fill a temporary part-time (24 hours/week) non-student wage Administrative Assistant position based at the SciTech campus in Manassas, VA. George Mason University has a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of excellence and diversity among its faculty and staff, and strongly encourages candidates to apply who will enrich Mason's academic and culturally inclusive environment.About the Position:Incumbent will be responsible for purchasing and billing for University Life at both the SciTech and Mason Square (Arlington) campuses, managing day-to-day office operations as needed at SciTech (i.e., phone and equipment coordination, event scheduling). This position will work closely with the Associate Director, UL SciTech, to manage and oversee walk-in traffic and phone calls; will provide information and materials to students, faculty and staff; and will greet students for scheduled appointments and assist students with use of office and virtual resources. The Administrative Assistant will also assist with planning, set-up, and execution of student events and initiatives as needed. Additional administrative and programmatic support duties will be assigned as needed.Applicants should desire working in a fun, student-focused team environment where priorities change rapidly and customer service, as well as effective communication, is considered essential. Required Qualifications:Demonstrated communication and customer service skills;Excellent organizational skills;Ability to prioritize work; andAbility to multitask and to be detail-oriented.Preferred Qualifications:Prior experience working in a higher education environment; andPrior experience with event planning and scheduling.For confidentiality purposes, the incumbent may not be a current student at George Mason University. For consideration, applicants must be available to work a minimum of 20 hours a week, but preference will be given to candidates available 24 hours a week. Preferred hours are Monday-Thursday 1:00pm-7:00 pm, with occasional need for extended evening hours to support events.Applications will be reviewed until the position is filled. There is an immediate start-date for this position with anticipated need through the Spring 2023 semester.
