Dewberry is currently seeking a Meteorology Intern for Summer 2023 to perform daily meteorological reanalysis and reporting of extreme rainfall and flood threats. The individual will also work with Dewberry meteorologists and engineers to support extreme precipitation studies. Office location is flexible (remote opportunity, with lead meteorologist based near Denver, CO).

Responsibilities

  • Review, aggregate, and report daily meteorological phenomena
  • Gather and analyze spatial precipitation data
  • Work independently and as a member of a multi-functional, dynamic, multi-disciplinary team to develop meteorological data for risk analysis studies.
  • Develop solutions to complex problems in creative and effective ways by analyzing existing programs and new systems.


Required Skills & Required Experience

  • Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in meteorology/atmospheric science
  • Knowledge of synoptic and mesoscale weather analysis and forecasting preferred
  • Technical writing skills for scientific and general audiences a plus
  • Experience using Python or R programming (or comparable) a plus
  • GIS (open-source preferred)

*The hourly pay range for this position is $16.00-$26.69.
