Responsibilities

Tasks

Serves as senior technical analyst and liaison with oversight of the daily administration and support of the CGES Windows network. Serves as a technical expert on all supported automated systems utilized by CSC.

Installs, maintains and tunes hardware; controls current versions and future releases of applications software, and documents the physical configuration of information systems.

Manages and administers third-party applications and products for hardware and software inventory, distribution, data collection and network monitoring.

Optimizes the functionality of networks and systems. Diagnoses and recovers failed systems. Performs routine administration and repair of Windows servers supporting Domain Controllers, Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, SQL, IIS, and Terminal Services.

Plans, coordinates, installs, and continuously analyzes system design, hardware, and software.

Designs, develop and conduct technical and operational tests and evaluations of various communications equipment and systems using performance management and measurement methods.

Design and installation of LAN and WAN infrastructure. Serves as the local area network (LAN)/wide area network (WAN) subject matter expert for an unclassified network.

Configures a wide variety of devices requiring diverse interfaces and device drivers in multiple operating system environments using a wide variety of hardware platforms.

Troubleshoots and corrects complex operating system problems to include resolving conflicts between applications, hardware and/or device conflicts, and operating system faults.

Performs operational tests on equipment in test array or operational configuration prior to issue or installation, to ensure proper operation and absence of hardware, software, device or network conflicts.

Determines customer requirements and assists customers by recognizing and analyzing trends and providing instruction and orientation services. Identifies and documents system requirements for specific needs of customers.

Conducts in-depth analyses of system usage, traffic interruptions, hardware and software capabilities, user complaints and other relevant factors.

Provides technical expertise in analyzing and remediating network security issues.

Installs, maintains and tunes security software and hardware; controls current versions and future releases of software configuration and documents the physical configuration of the network environment.

Performs routine log and performance monitoring of server operating systems, applications and hardware. Reports daily and weekly status of systems and applications.

Shared responsibility for help desk support, including after-hours support.

Serve as a technical expert in support of Disaster Recovery and COOP policy.

Serves as a subject matter expert and direct advisor to CIO and Director of IT Operations.

Maintains required certifications.

• Selectee will be required to participate in Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer as the Standard method of payment for payroll and travel purposes.
• Males born after 12/31/59 and at least 18 years of age must be registered with the Selective Service System, unless covered by an exemption under the Selective Service Law, in accordance with 5 U.S. Code 3378. Selectee will be required to provide a written statement regarding his registration status unless he is exempted by this statute.
• Must satisfactorily complete a Federal Background check.

US Citizens and non-citizens authorized to work in the US, must have lived in the US for three of the last five years, and meet residency requirements set forth below:

Resided in the United States or its protectorate or territories (excluding short trips abroad, such as vacations);

Worked for the United States government as an employee overseas in a Federal or military capacity; or

Have been a dependent of a United States Federal or military employee serving overseas.

Exceptions may be granted to applicants if they can provide complete stateside coverage information required to make a suitability/security determination. Applicants must provide this information with their application for employment.

Qualifications

Minimum:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a closely related field; or a high school diploma/GED and six years of appropriate related experience.

Strong experience architecting, configuring, implementing, administering, and troubleshooting distributed Windows servers, Windows desktop operating systems (Win10), network routers & switches and wireless access points/controllers in multi-location environment.

Strong Microsoft Active Directory and domain management and demonstrated capability designing the Active Directory schema.

Experience implementing, migrating, managing, and operating systems/applications in an enterprise cloud computing environment.

Experience implementation and administration of VMWare.

Availability to travel on an occasional basis.

Preferred: (In addition to the minimum qualifications):

Strong knowledge of virtualization and cloud computing concepts.

Active Microsoft MCSE and/or CCNA, CCNP certification or equivalent.

Project management experience and familiarity with various SDLC disciplines.

Two years of relevant experience with Microsoft Azure.
