I have a client that is looking for a Senior Software Engineer based in the Washington, DC Metro Area. The Software Engineer will work on a high-performance agile team with other talented engineers, architects, and data scientists to design and integrate systems, create cutting-edge solutions optimized for Amazon Web Services (AWS), and provide hands-on cloud analytics and machine learning solutions to commercial, defense and intelligence customers in the federal government.Candidates that possess a solid understanding of software design fundamentals, building complex software solutions optimized for scale and performance, a background in data science or mathematics, and excellent programming skills are preferred.Senior Software Engineer responsibilities are:Develop mastery of Amazon's Well-Architected frameworkDevelop applications in AWS using cloud design patterns and best practicesDesign and develop open-source tools and applicationsWrite well designed and efficient codeDevelop and integrate custom software components into a fully functional systemDevelop machine and deep learning algorithms and modelsWork within an agile team to deliver tested quality softwareCloud Engineer requirements are:4 15 years' experience working as a Software EngineerHands-on experience with Linux and WindowsProfessional experience writing production-quality code using two of the following programming languages: Python, Golang, Java, Scala, C++, CExperience with Continuous Build and Delivery processes* Experience with Django preferredKnowledge of relational databases and non-relational/NoSQL databasesExcellent understanding of typical multi-tier architectures: web servers (Apache, nginx, IIS), caching, application servers, & load balancers /application delivery ControllersKnowledge of Containers (Docker) and Container Orchestration Systems (ECS, Kubernetes, and Docker Swarm/Data Center)Exposure to Big Data Infrastructure such as Spark, Storm, and HadoopProfessional experience creating customer-facing documentationFamiliarity with software engineering tools, software development methodology and release processesBS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Math preferredBenefits:Bonus eligibleComprehensive benefits package including 401K with matchingStock optionsWork from home or in our Ashburn, VA location with flexible work scheduleIncubator work environmentAll qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or status as a protected veteran.
