YOU DO NOT ACQUIRE A COMPETITIVE OR EXCEPTED SERVICE STATUS FROM THIS POSITION.The position is located in the Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations, Program Development Coordination and Support Directorate, Office of Design & Engineering, Interior Design Division. The Office of Design and Engineering personnel serve as OBO's Code Officials and provide design, research and technical assistance bureau-wide for all DOS facilities overseas.Major Duties: As an Interior Designer assigned to the interior Design Division of OBO/PDCS/DE, the contractor under the mentorship and guidance of a senior Interior Designer, performs design and support services to include, but not necessarily limited to, the following:Reviews design submittals developed both in-house and by Architect/Engineer (A/E) contractors to ensure project design meets OBO Design Standards and functional and operational requirements;Prepares detailed specifications and procurement packages for furniture and furnishings using industry tools of REVIT, AutoCAD and Indesign;Reviews shop drawings and recommends appropriate action;Prepares space plans and test fits for embassy and consulate support projects;Maintains existing interior design standards, incorporating lessons learned;Engages with architectural industry in knowledge sharing activities;Serves as a Contracting Officer's Representative (COR), monitoring interior design services and deliverables of A/E and related contractors;Who May Apply: Job Status: Full-Time, Non-Permanent-Temporary Non-Status Duration Appointment: 1 year renewable for 4 years. Conditions of Employment: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.U.S. Citizenship is required.Statement of Employment & Financial Interest required prior to appointment.Frequent overseas travel may be required.Incumbent will be subject to random drug testing. Education: Must maintain a bachelor's degree or higher in Interior Design, Architecture or related fields and/ or possess National Council of Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) certification.Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- interior design or other field that included or was supplemented by at least 30 semester hours in interior design, interior architecture, or interior environmental design; or passage of the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) examination.Requirements: Applicants must meet all the required qualification requirements, including education, and any selective placement factors described below by the closing date of this announcement. Education may only be substituted in accordance with the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook. Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the US Department of Education in order to be credited towards qualifications. Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the education requirements if you can show that the foreign education is comparable to that received in an accredited educational institution in the United States. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying. Click on the link for a list of accredited organizations recognized as specializing in interpretation of foreign education credentials.Qualifications: Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:Experience coordinating with the disciplines of telecom, electrical, mechanical and structural engineeringExperience selecting and specifying interior furnishings and finish materialsExperience in the commercial architecture and interior design industryThere is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-12 position.Benefits:
