Duties

As a MUTILATED CURRENCY DIVISION MANAGER, you will:
  • Determine the authenticity and value of mutilated and old Treasury currency received from the general public, the Federal Reserve Banks and other governmental agencies.
  • Assist in the continuous program oversight and operation of high visibility matters, including public awareness with regards to redeeming mutilated currency via administrating the Bureau's public website as it relates to this.
  • Represent the Bureau in court proceedings regarding Treasury's procedures for redeeming mutilated currency.
  • Manage the Division, to include evaluate and implement strong internal controls that provide an effective and efficient method from receipt of the currency through destruction at the BEP; establish and determine the workflow at the D.C. and Ft. Worth facilities for the examination and redemption of mutilated and old Treasury currency and the claims processing for payments in D. C.

  • Qualifications

    You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

    For the GS-14, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes:

    - Adjudicating the redemption of mutilated currency claims,
    AND
    - Developing and implementing Treasury policy, regulations, standards and procedures for the examination and redemption of United States currency,
    AND
    - Directing, coordinating and guiding analytical studies, both inside and outside the agency concerning highly sensitive issues for determining fitness and authenticity of United States currency.

    In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-14, you must have been at the GS-13level for 52 weeks.

    OTHER INFORMATION:
    • We may select from this announcement or any other source to fill one or more vacancies.
    • This is a Non-Bargaining unit position.
    • The facility typically shuts down annually between Christmas and New Year's Day. As such, all BEP employees must take leave for work days during the shutdown period.
    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
    • A one year probationary period may be required.
    • A one year supervisory or managerial probationary period may be required.
    • Public Trust - Background Investigation will be required.
    • Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.
    • Have your salary sent to a financial institution of your choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer.
    • If you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959, certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System or are exempt from having to do so.
    • Go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form I-9 . Federal law requires verification of the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires in the U.S.
    • File a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report within 30 days of appointment and annually from then on.
    • Undergo an income tax verification.
    • Obtain and use a Government-issued charge card for business-related travel.
    • Submit to a drug test prior to your appointment and random drug testing while you occupy the position.
    • Wear required safety clothing and/or equipment required by the position. This may include safety shoes, hard hats, hearing protection, gloves, masks, etc.
    • Weekend work and overtime, if applicable, will be scheduled when needed based on production requirements as determined by Management.
