Sughrue Mion, PLLC, a leading, internationally recognized Intellectual Property law firm located in Washington, DC, is seeking a chemical patent attorney/patent agent. This position will analyze patent applications in the chemical sciences requiring a working knowledge of organic chemistry, physical chemistry and materials science. This position consults with clients to ascertain technical details about inventions; analyze information on patent applications to ensure compliance with the USPOT requirements; conduct examiner interviews; recommend solution for the preparation of claim amendments; provide legal opinions regarding infringement and validity of patents.
Bachelors or Masters degree in chemistry or chemical engineering required. Law degree from an ABA accredited law school and admission to at least one state bar (for attorney). One or more years of substantial recent experience in prosecuting patent applications.
This position is located in the Washington, DC office. Sughrue is currently operating in a hybrid mode, with in-office and telework options available to candidates located in DC, MD or VA. Candidates out DC, MD or VA may also be considered.
