Associate Economist, Economic Research (Latin America)

Position Description
The Institute is seeking a highly motivated Associate Economist to support the work of our Economic Research department in Latin America. S/he will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including but not limited to:
- Assist with Economic Report Production (check report statistics, tables, and database; proof all final department reports; provide editorial support on report drafts; and draft paragraphs/sections as needed for reports).
- Data Collection in Support of Economic Research (maintain policy and output/trade trend databases; prepare final database for internal use and circulation; assist the maintenance and revision of databases; and compile printout of daily news coverage on assigned region for department economists).
- Special Projects (e.g., assist in drafting talking points or other ad hoc research for use by department economist or chief economist).
Requirements
Applicants should have a college degree in economics, finance, or other related quantitative field, but more competitive candidates would have a master’s degree, and 3 to 5 years of related work experience. Strong command of the English language as well as excellent communication skills (oral and written) and advance experience with Microsoft Excel. Desirable: Experience with Bloomberg, Haver and/or demonstrated experience in carrying out quantitative analysis using statistical programs (EViews, MatLab, RATS, Stata).
