Duties

Responsibilities include tracking, informing, and advising the Federal Co-Chair on policies related to both rural economic program development and budget formulation and execution. Serves as a Budget Analyst responsible for, ensuring the effective integration of programs and budget planning connected with the formulation, execution, and analysis of Rural Economic Development activities, in compliance with Federal legislation, and OMB policy, rules, and standards. This position reports directly to the Federal Co-Chair, who is a Presidential appointee.

  • Successful completion (prior to hire) and maintenance of background security review; U.S. citizenship required.
  • Occasional travel within the thirteen-state Appalachian region may be required. Must possess & maintain a valid driver's license.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • Possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities to achieve results and provide value to the commission.
  • Through a combination of collaboration, facilitation and problem-solving skills can synthesize details into useful information and strategy.
  • Possess a keen understanding of the organization and can build a detailed understanding of the organization and have the capability to effectively collaborate with and influence multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent planning skills and ability to conduct effective meetings whether in-person or virtual.
  • Demonstrate the ability to lead multiple and simultaneous programs using best practices and the ability to adjust to the changing nature of the environment, to adjust to various complexities and to continue provide improved business results.


Education

  • Bachelor's degree and 3 to 5 years of relevant experience related to economic development and legislative initiatives.
  • Hill experience a plus.
