- Uses evidence-based methods and analysis to identify potential barriers that could pose challenges to GAO achieving its diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility goals.
- Develops mitigation strategies to address any barriers identified.
- Collaborates with engagement teams to identify structures, policies, and practices that potentially create and perpetuate systems of inequity and disparity in federally-administered programs to determine if they consistently serve members of the public, distribute public services, and implement public policy in a manner that promotes fairness, justice, and equality.
- Conducts research to provide evidence-based advice, original insights, and distributional analysis into social and economic policy challenges that impact federally-administered programs.
- Summarizes research findings in accordance with GAO documentation standards to provide equality assurance in supporting work used by ODEIA and/or engagement teams.
- Advises on training and professional development opportunities provided to employees to build capacity and expertise in examining justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion related issues.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- applying social science concepts, practices and techniques to assess the adequacy of programs and ensure conformance with applicable standards;
- serving as an advisor and authority for other researchers in the areas of statistical modeling, root cause analysis, program evaluation or applied social science methodologies; and
- providing technical advice regarding using applied research techniques to assess social equity issues.
Education
You must have one of the following:
- I have a degree in behavioral science, social science, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
- I have a combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
- I have four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated I have acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
