Duties

  • You will complete inspection on each weapon and perform trigger adjustments.
  • You will set up the Ransom Rest with the appropriate weapons systems.
  • You will ensure quality control and quality assurance checklists will be maintained on all weapons.
  • You will initiate the appropriate action for repairs, maintenance work, or modifications to weapons.
  • You will verbally articulate and demonstrate precision building techniques, per the period of instruction, to gunsmith students.
  • You will teach the processes and theories of building and maintaining Marine Corps specific precision weapons systems.
  • You will use all required job specific machine tools such as a lathe, mill, hand tools, and drill press to achieve high quality results.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Instructing gunsmith curriculum to gunsmith students, building custom precision weapons for competition and tactical shooting environments, teaching weapons systems cycle of operation (e.g. bluing, barrel threading, crowning, theory of function and ballistic theories), performing research and development, testing, evaluation, and production of small arms components.

Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
or
3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
or
LL.M., if related
