DESCRIPTION The Electrical Associate II shall be able to develop construction plans including electrical layout and details, construction specifications and cost estimates for a variety of building types. Design requirements will include all types of building lighting, power and electrical systems. The selected candidate will work with the current Senior Electrical staff. The successful candidate will have experience with the design of building electrical systems, some airport terminal design experience preferred. They will work in multi-disciplinary, collaborative project design teams with architects, interior designers, civil engineers, and other building systems engineers. Other job responsibilities include: Perform analysis, calculations, design, evaluation and inspection for a specific area of technical expertise which includes Electrical Power and Lighting. Telecommunications, Fire Alarm, Electronic Security Systems, Intercom, Public Address, Audiovisual, and additional special systems to support project objectives is desired. Utilize AutoCAD and/or Revit software to complete construction drawings. Tasks may include engineering of low/medium voltage drawings (power, grounding, lightning protection, lighting) and associated single lines & schematics/wiring diagrams; perform cable sizing, power and voltage drop calculations; perform lighting design calculations; perform arc-flash, short-circuit and coordination studies. Review project requirements and specifications and confer with other disciplines and managers to determine assistance required in plan preparation, evaluation of project conditions, design changes and reports. Prepare and present technical and program information to team members, management, and clients in a clear and logical manner. Complete design tasks by detailing the scope of work, conducting the analysis, inspecting the site, reviewing the requirements to assure the quality of the assigned task. Coordinate or perform field work to gather data and materials. Maintain a working knowledge of government and industry design criteria and standards. Perform quality control procedures such as reviewing project deliverables prior to client submissions also performing an internal technical review of other engineer's designs. Create a good line of communication with both internal and external customers. PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's Degree in Engineering 3+ years of related experience required for this position EIT required, PE registration a plus. Experience in building electrical design and basic low voltage power calculations Knowledge of National Electric Code Ability to demonstrate excellent communication skills to effectively interface and communicate with team members, customers, subcontractors, and vendors Familiarity with government, client, and industry local codes, regulations, and standards governing design and construction projects Ability to be self-motivated and to research and troubleshoot problems as they arise Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deliverable deadlines Availability to occasionally travel to project locations PREFERRED SKILLS Experience with Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint and Outlook) and PDF software such as Adobe or Bluebeam LEED Certification Knowledge of Unified Facilities Criteria Knowledge of SKM or Easy Power electrical simulation software Knowledge of Visual Pro or AGI32 lighting design software COMPENSATION The salary range for this position is $54,392-$132,763. This will be dependent on the experience and expertise of the incoming candidate.
