ALCOHOL AND DRUG PROFESSIONAL COUNSELOR ADVANCED Recruitment #15-001567-0004 DEPARTMENT DJS Metro Region - State Operated Facilities DATE OPENED 11/23/2015 08:00:00 AM FILING DEADLINE Open/Continuous SALARY $69,900.00 - $86,244.00/year EMPLOYMENT TYPE Full-Time WORK LOCATION: Allegany Anne Arundel Baltimore City Baltimore County Frederick Garrett Montgomery Prince George's Talbot Wicomico Go Back Apply View Benefits GRADE 18 Main Purpose Of Job The Alcohol and Drug Professional Counselor Advanced is the advanced level of professional alcohol and drug counselor work, at the certified Master's Degree level, providing counseling services, as an expert in a specialty area, to clients with substance use disorders by using intervention, treatment and rehabilitation POSITION DUTIES The Department of Juvenile is accepting applications on an ongoing basis for the Alcohol and Drug Professional Counselor Advanced position. The Alcohol and Drug Professional Counselor Advanced position provides a full range of counseling and substance abuse services for clients with the most complex substance abuse issues as defined by standard treatment criteria, under general supervision from a clinical supervisor. The position will address behavioral health issues by providing individual, family, and group therapeutic counseling to youth. The position will contact clients on a daily basis to provide assessments, treatment, and other clinical services. The Alcohol and Drug Professional Counselor will work as a member of a multi-disciplinary healthcare team to assist with the team's understanding of social and emotional factors underlying a juvenile's behavior. The incumbent will be required to work some evenings and weekends and could include on-call crisis clinician rotation. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists under the requirements for Certified Professional Counselors-Alcohol and Drug. Experience: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists under the requirements for Certified Professional Counselors-Alcohol and Drug. DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS The ideal candidate will have experience performing dual-diagnosis (mental health and substance use treatment) of juveniles and be licensed by the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists as a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor. In accordance with Health Occupations Title 17 and Code of Maryland Regulations 10.58.07, candidates placed in this classification must be either certified or licensed by the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists as a Certified Professional Counselor-Alcohol and Drug or as a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor. 2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS 1. Candidates placed in this classification must possess graded courses in an identified specialty area as defined by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Administration (ADAA), Maryland State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. This training must be approved by ADAA. Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs. Candidates shall be certified to the eligible list for a year.
