The new Data team architects and manages UAM's internal data infrastructure, partners with users across the company to enable data driven solutions and runs strategic projects to stay at the forefront of data and analytical capabilities. We are a team of data engineers, data architects, data scientists, data analysts, data you-name-it, and we're building out a cutting-edge data platform and capability for this new business comprised of modern leading technologies to enable the next generation of mobility solutions.As Lead Data Engineer on the new Data team, you will hold a key role in defining our data solutions and capabilities. You will have the opportunity and support to truly innovate and build the right data solution from ground up to help execute our vision of an advanced air mobility future. You will live and breathe continuous improvement and will be responsible for identifying, implementing, and supporting use cases that can leverage data engineering and analytics to improve outcomes. Lead Data Engineers are key partners to internal customers spanning across Supernal, including Engineering, R&D, Strategy, People Operations, and senior executives. This is a unique opportunity to join as the first Data Engineer, work closely with senior leadership, and help set up core systems of records and analytic innovations across the business. You will be a leading voice in our data strategy and its delivery.What you can do:Transform noisy, real-world data into valuable information that enables the business to quickly and effectively make data driven decisionsPartner with your team and technical collaborators and deliver internal data and analytics products on critical use cases where data can be used to excavate hidden insights (eg, battery testing, testing and certification, AI, demand forecasting, people analytics, cybersecurity, systems of record)Write, maintain, and improve code, pipelines, ontologies, visualizations, interactive tools, and dashboards to enable technical and non-technical users to leverage dataIdentify key data sets through deep engagement with use cases and workflowsDesign, build, and manage end to end data pipelines in a cohesive data platformDevelop scalable, reliable, manageable data pipelinesDevelop and train CI/CD practices for data integrationPartner with technical team members to design solutions for MLOps, data quality verification, anomaly detection, real-time streaming pipelinesDesign, integrate, and document technical components for seamless data discoverability and usageTriage and address support requests (eg, workflow and product issues)Actively enable a data driven and innovative culture across the organizationCommunicate insights in a way that resonates with internal and external partnersDesign and guide best practices in data, code, and process managementDrive data strategy across the organization including leading training sessions and standard processes in our data systemsStay up to date on industry best practices and standardsOther duties as assignedWhat you can contribute:B.S. in relevant field such as computer science, mathematics, physics, software engineering, data science, or information sciences or equivalent work experience8-10 years of relevant work experience (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered)Demonstrated experience in working with big data platforms across diverse use cases, including data managementProfessional experience with / comfortable using:Programming languages such as Python, Java, or ScalaCloud services such as AWS/AzureDatabases and data lakesUsing SQLSpark (any interface, but PySpark preferred)GitCommand lineCI/CDAbility to develop and manage data pipelines and lineageCreative and curious problem solver, able to take an ambiguous and complex need and develop data / analytics solutionsAble to work in a rapidly changing and ambiguous environmentExcellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to work across the business with diverse, technical, and non-technical colleaguesContinuous learner, independent worker, and strong decision makerCollaborative teammate with commitment to Diversity, Equity, and InclusionExperience in industry working with highly regulated data, ie, aerospace, automotive, healthcare, financeExperience with DockerYou may also be able to contribute:Experience with export-controlled dataExperience applying data and analytics to a variety of use cases from business development to aerospace / automotive engineering to manufacturing / production and moreExperience with airflow or similar python-based DAG orchestration toolExperience with Data Warehouse design, ETL, and architecting efficient software designsExperience supporting analytics and ML use casesExperience working with streaming pipelines, and stream processingExperience with Kubernetes and JenkinsExperience using Jira and Atlassian toolsExperience making simple dashboards with common BI ToolsAny offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background check.
