You should be able to perform inspections and conduct assessments of plumbing systems. You should also be able to read blueprints and interpret them in order to determine the best way to resolve the problems in a plumbing system. To accomplish all of this, you will need to have a deep familiarity with commonly-used plumbing tools and various components.
