Duties
CRS works exclusively for the United States Congress, providing policy and legal analysis to committees and Members of both the House and Senate, regardless of party affiliation. As a legislative branch agency within the Library of Congress, CRS has been a valued and respected resource on Capitol Hill for over a century.
CRS is well known for analysis that is authoritative, confidential, objective, and nonpartisan. Its highest priority is to ensure that Congress has immediate access to the nation's best thinking on public policy issues of interest to its Members and committees.
THIS IS AN OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT. Applications will be reviewed every two weeks. This announcement will close once all vacancies have been filled or when the announcement reaches the end of the open period.
Qualified applicants will perform a variety of services within ALD, such as cite-checking for accuracy, reviewing for proper use of The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation , and proofreading and editing written products. Candidates will further support ALD's legal programs and initiatives, such as legal seminars, presentations, and web-based projects, as required. Strong cite-checking, Bluebooking, proofreading, editing, legal research (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis, HeinOnline), and technological skills are required. Candidates must also demonstrate superior organization skills and attention to detail.

The incumbent of this position is eligible to work a flextime work schedule.

Relocation expenses will not be authorized for the person(s) selected under this vacancy announcement.
Although it is the Library's policy to afford the maximum pay benefit to employees when setting rates of pay, a new appointee who has had no previous Federal service will generally be paid the minimum step of the grade.
