Principal Associate - Tech Controls Testing

As a Principal Risk Associate at Capital One you'll be responsible for working with business partners to identify and mitigate potential risks to Capital One. Principal Risk Associates at Capital One are highly motivated Risk Management professionals with excellent organizational and communication skills. They have a high level of exposure across the line of business and have the opportunity to create and implement innovative solutions to identify and mitigate potential risks to the Company.

As a Principal Associate in Capital One's Enterprise Services (ES) Risk, you will apply your analytical and delivery skills to our highest profile risk management projects. You will partner across Enterprise Services Risk to develop innovative risk solutions in a manner that enables responsible business innovation and protects our customers, shareholders, and associates. You will partner with peers and senior leaders, second and third lines of defense, as well as lines of business to drive change in order to better manage the Company's risk in an open, collaborative environment where new ideas and solutions are both welcomed and rewarded.

Enterprise Services Risk professionals are experienced, well-trained, and progressive individuals that operate within a highly collaborative team environment to deliver value-added risk services to our business partners. The candidate will be a highly-motivated risk management professional with excellent analytical, planning, collaboration, and communication skills.

Responsibilities:

As a Risk Guide for Capital One's Enterprise Services Risk Team supporting Enterprise Services Risk (ESR), you will apply your leadership and analytical skills to directly support ESR and the ES Business Chief Risk Officer (BCRO) as a risk advisor. You will act as a thought leader and trusted advisor working across ESR to identify opportunities and develop solutions for strengthening risk practices and controls in ES Risk to maintain and mature a well-managed risk office program.

Specifically, this role will require:
  • Relationship building - As a risk guide, develop and leverage key relationships with stakeholders that enable collaboration across the enterprise, including the first line, second line, ESR partners, and the leadership team to ensure we effectively manage risk and provide guidance as needed.
  • Corrective action - Identify and track events and issues to mitigate risk to Capital One. Coordinate with stakeholders to define/ implement remediation activities. Provide challenge when needed that is grounded in reliable data, supporting analysis, and subject matter expertise.
  • Change management - Lead change control efforts at the process level to ensure impacts are appropriately assessed, documented and implemented and work to transform and promote the way we manage risk through innovation and automation.
  • Collaboration - Facilitate and support ES Risk readiness and execution against risk frameworks, programs, processes, and support business initiatives (e.g. risk identification and risk assessments, controls management, problem management, use of systems of record, and reporting).
  • Continuous Improvement - Explore ways to improve and innovate our approach to risk management.
  • Escalation - Communicate and escalate areas of concern or risk to appropriate stakeholders and partners.
  • Project Management - Ability to manage multiple projects and appropriately prioritize and deliver results timely.


Qualifications

Basic Qualifications: 


-Bachelor's Degree or military experience

- At least 3 years Risk Management, Risk Process, Audit, Legal, Compliance, or project/program management experience

- At least 3 years of experience supporting, partnering and interacting with internal business clients

Preferred Qualifications: 


2 + years in Risk Management or Compliance experience

2 + years of project or program or project management experience

2 + years of experience supporting internal business clients

1+ years of experience with PRIME/FUSE or GRC Tool

1+ years of Google suite experience

Strong written and verbal communication

Strong relationship building skills, customer focus and ability to collaborate across teams to deliver

Industry Risk Professional Certifications such as CRISC, CIA, CPA, CRCM, BPM, CISA

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

Location is New York City

- $127,092 and $149,940 for Prin Assoc, Cyber Risk & Analysis

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.
