The Dupont Circle Hotel, A Doyle Collection property is seeking a talented and knowledgeable Assistant Director of Engineering to join the team!*The Dupont Circle Hotel in Washington DC is a luxury property located right on Dupont Circle in the nation's capital. Newly renovated the hotel has 327 chicly styled and luxuriously appointed guest rooms, with 12 bespoke penthouse suites located on the 9th floor of the hotel. Home to Pembroke Restaurant and Doyle Bar, the property also boasts almost 10,000 square feet of meeting and event space.As the Assistant Director of Engineering, you will assist the Director of Engineering in managing budget, capital expenditures, preventative maintenance programs, and daily assignments for staff and contractors. With overall responsibility for maintaining the buildings and grounds with particular attention towards safety, security and asset protection, the Assistant Director assigns, tracks and follows up on the status of work assigned to staff and contractors and ensures guest and team member satisfaction. This is a full time salaried position.*Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to: ** Assists in the effective planning, scheduling and evaluating of preventative maintenance needs and helps the Director of Engineering establish total property maintenance needs.* Supervises the day to day operations of the maintenance team, supervising distribution of repair work orders* Inspects and evaluates the physical condition of the facilities in order to determine maintenance and repair needs -all mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems and any other related equipment.* Helps ensure necessary permits and licenses for building and physical plant are obtained and kept current, bringing any issues to the attention of the Director of Engineering* Helps to ensure that all company and regulatory compliance to facility regulations and safety standards are in place and adhered to., and ensures compliance to all departmental policies, procedures and and standards* Assists in maintenance and repairs -is hands on -for physical property to include meeting spaces, guest rooms, restaurants, exterior grounds and equipment including HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, water treatment, electrical and life safety systems.* Supervises the maintenance team in the absence of the Director of Engineering* Provides exceptional leadership- ensuring the team has proper supplies, uniforms, training, communication, recognition and conflict resolution* Assists and helps with inventory for parts, supplies, and equipment for effective cost controls* Participates in hotel events including trainings, meetings, committees and employee relations events.* Training employees in safety procedures and assists in training other department employees in fore safety and evacuation procedures.*The ideal candidate will have experience in a hotel environment and possess the following;** At least 3 years in a maintenance supervisory or management role* Must have overall maintenance knowledge and trouble shooting ability with skills in painting, HVAC, carpentry, equipment, and tool usage. Technical training in HVAC/Electrical/plumbing or a two year degree from an accredited university in Building and Construction, Engineering mechanics or a related major and two years experience in engineering or maintenance work and technical training in HVAC, electrical/plumbing.* Must be qualified to carryout electrical work* Proven knowledge of public construction and building systems -all related permits, licensing, new and existing codes pertaining to public building and safety,.* Must have previous experience in a similar role and demonstrated energy management awareness* Be courteous and focused on providing a consistently high standard of service* Must have the ability to lead, multi-task and make sound decisions in a fast paced environment* Maintain a professional image at all times through appearance* Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills* Strong technical capabilities to include Property Management systems such as HOTSOS or Knowcross* Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends, PM if necessary, etc* Strongly preferred - experience in luxury hotel properties of similar size, with full understanding of hotel operations and luxury standards.
