Job Announcement

Under the direct clinical and administrative supervision of the behavioral health supervisor, serves individuals in Peer Outreach Response Team (PORT) with serious substance use challenges, and co-occurring challenges. This especially includes individuals with a history of overdose or other substance use emergency who are not well engaged in treatment or other recovery services. Services included community engagement, facilitating groups, connecting individuals to local resources to support the individual’s recovery, sharing own lived experience and recovery journey to motivate individuals to explore avenues of change, emergency response to substance use related crisis. Works collaboratively with first responders and other service providers as needed. On-call after business hours as required - scheduled shifts may include overnights and weekends in which pay for shift differential will apply. As a team lead for the PORT team, the incumbent further supports the behavioral health supervisor with trainings, presentations, data collection, reviewing referrals and assigning individual’s to PRS team members, engagement with community stakeholders in the peer and recovery communities, and filling in for the supervisor in their absence.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to the following:

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED: National or Virginia Peer Support Certification

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check, a Child Protective Services Registry check, and sanction screening to the satisfaction of the employer. A TB screening upon hire and annually thereafter.

This position is emergency/essential services personnel. (Required to report for duty during inclement weather and/or other emergencies.)
All newly hired employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (two weeks after the last required dose) as a condition of employment or obtain approval of a medical or religious exemption prior to their start date. Proof of an exemption or vaccination status will be required during the pre-employment onboarding process. New employees who obtain an exemption from the vaccine mandate for medical or sincerely held religious beliefs may be subject to a weekly testing requirement. Vaccinated employees and employees with a medical or religious exemption will complete the attestation online on their first day of employment or shortly thereafter.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in related field
  • Experience providing peer support services
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to read data on computer monitor(s); operate keyboard driven equipment; communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; and lift up to 15 lbs. Ability to transport clients in a county vehicle. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
