AICR funds cutting-edge research in the fields of nutrition, physical activity and cancer prevention, treatment, and survival.The Finance Department, with a staff of six, is the hub in supporting all three groups from budgeting to preparation for the annual audit.*Position Summary*The Assistant Controller supports the Controller in the management of theInternational Financial Services (IFS) department, which includes AICR, WCRFInternational and its affiliates.*Main Duties and Responsibilities** Responsible for the prompt and accurate reporting of the financial condition of AICR, WCRF International and the affiliates by providing accurate monthly financial statements and other analysis as needed.* Supervise all staff accountants which includes reviewing their work (journal entries, reconciliations, financial statements and other reports), accessing the workloads of individual staff members and making changes when necessary. Promotes individual staff professional development, training and escalates any staff issues to the Controller or VP of Finance when necessary.* Work with the Controller to implement new accounting standards and regulatory requirements for national members as needed.* Keep abreast of proposed accounting, payroll and tax regulations that may affect financial reporting of the national members.* Compile information for corporate tax and informational returns and other such items of a financial nature that must be filed with Federal, State, national, local, and foreign governments.* Assist the Controller with the global budget and in the preparation of materials for semi-annual board meetings.* Performs other tasks and duties as assigned.*Essential Skills and Knowledge** Bachelor's Degree in Accounting with minimum five years of mid-level financial, accounting, and budgetary experience, preferably with a non- profit* Familiarity with industry standard accounting platforms and proficiency inExcel, General Ledger and budgeting* Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with efficiency* Strong analytical skills* Strong commitment to professional development and continued learning* Ability to work independently and in collaboration with colleagues at all levels across all departments* Good presentation and writing skills*Desirable Skills and Knowledge** Management experience desired* Accounting experience with a Non-Profit preferred* CPA preferred*Physical Requirements** Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.* Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.* Travel may be required_AICR is an equal-opportunity employer that is committed to promoting a diverse and inclusive workplace."A' We welcome applications from all qualified individuals regardless of race, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, religion, physical or mental disability, marital status, veteran status, or other factors protected by law._Job Type: Full-timePay: From $90,000.00 per yearBenefits:* Dental insurance* Flexible spending account* Health insurance* Life insurance* Paid time off* Parental leave* Tuition reimbursement* Vision insuranceSchedule:* Monday to FridayAbility to commute/relocate:* Arlington, VA 22209: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)Experience:* GAAP: 5 years (Required)Work Location: Hybrid remote in Arlington, VA 22209
