*Controller**Job Description**About CommuniKids Preschool*CommuniKids is a Language Immersion Preschool with 6 preschools in Washington DC and Virginia. The company is currently *expanding * to more locations in the DC Metro area and beyond. This position requires the flexibility necessary for working for a growing start-up.CommuniKids is looking for its first in-house Controller! This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to own the accounting process from start to finish. The ideal candidate will be a high energy self-starter, be detail oriented, have strong analytical skills and have a high level of integrity. They will also have experience with process improvement to enhance efficiency. The Controller will be a part of the Management team and will work closely with Human Resources, Center Directors and clerical staff. This is a hybrid position that will report to the office in Washington DC at least 3 times a week.*Job Description: *The Controller is responsible for all accounting and finance operations of the company, including the day to day management of the accounting and finance department, month end close, monthly financial reporting, and managing government grants.*Duties and Responsibilities: ** _General Accounting Duties: _A$ cents A cents ' not A' cents Oversee and maintain complete financial files including banking, accounts receivables, accounts payable, merchant statements, taxes, government fees, etc.A$ cents A cents ' not A' cents Manage Accounts Receivable to include collecting and maintaining deposit records, keeping AR Aging under 30 days and assist Center Directors when neededA$ cents A cents ' not A' cents Manage Accounts Payable through the Bill.comA$ cents A cents ' not A' cents Oversee all correspondence between company and vendors regarding payments, etc.A$ cents A cents ' not A' cents Maintain company books in QuickBooks on a regular basisA$ cents A cents ' not A' cents Work with CEO to manage and allocate incoming funds from investorsA$ cents A cents ' not A' cents Reconcile bank, merchant, and other statements on a monthly basisA$ cents A cents ' not A' cents Close the books monthly to include reconciliations and accrualsA$ cents A cents ' not A' cents Provide monthly financial statements in a timely mannerA$ cents A cents ' not A' cents Other accounting and financial duties as needed*Government Contracts: *A$ cents A cents ' not A' cents Work with grants management team to support the PreK Enhancement and ExpansionProgram (PKEEP) grant; this is a multi-million-dollar grant from the District ofColumbia government for the implementation and administration of the free PreKProgram in DC. The PKEEP grant is paid to CommuniKids monthly on a retroactive, reimbursement basis. The fiscal year of the grant period is October 1 to September 30 and the grant is managed using the EGMS systemA$ cents A cents ' not A' cents Management of the PKEEP grant includes:A$ cents A cents ' not A' cents Creating and submitting the annual budget, allocating all grant funds into the following categories: Salaries, Professional Services, Equipment, Supplies andMaterials, Fixed Property Costs, and Other ObjectsA$ cents A cents ' not A' cents Collecting and maintaining invoices, statements, etc. of all the PKEEP monthly expenses to submit with the monthly reimbursement requestA$ cents A cents ' not A' cents Creating and submitting the monthly reimburse request.
