*Peer Recovery Specialist Job Description*The Peer Recovery Specialist is responsible for conducting screenings and referrals for substance abuse, mental health, and ancillary services. The Peer Recovery Specialist acts as a liaison between the clients, community programs, services and community members. Peer Recovery Specialist works with clients to instill a message of hope and to share experiential knowledge.*Responsibilities and Tasks** Provide recovery education to service clients for every phase of the recovery journey from pre-recovery engagement, recovery initiation, recovery stabilization, and sustained recovery maintenance.* Refers patients to appropriate services in the community as necessary and documents referrals and outcomes.* Develop relationships with community groups/agencies in partnership with others in the agency.* Completes documentation, reports and captures data in accordance with Redeem Healthcare processes.* Obtains information about community resources that can be helpful with client recovery and sustainability.* Educate, inform, and advocate for clients regarding housing, benefits and entitlements.* Coordinate and monitor referrals to community services, and advocate client participation ie, helping clients identify and secure housing placements.* Educate and provide resource information on Narcan, STD& HIV; COVID-19.* Assist the individual with setting goals and in identifying support systems.* Perform additional duties as may be required.*Qualifications** High School or Equivalent or better* Certification as Peer Recovery Specialist mandatory.* Minimum 2+ years of work experience with mental health & substance abuse clients* Knowledge of the concerns and challenges of persons living with mental health and substance abuse disorders.* Knowledge of the recovery process and the ability to facilitate recovery.* Skill to teach and engage in basic problem-solving strategies to support individual clients.*Knowledge, Skills & Abilities** Must be a model employee for clients in recovery, staff personnel and community members by demonstrating that recovery is possible.* Demonstrate an understanding of Peer Recovery Services.* Committed to recovery, choice, empowerment, and the ability of people with serious mental illness and/or co-occurring disorders to find meaningful lives in the community.* Ability to establish a trusting relationship with clients and peers, including excellent interpersonal skills.* Detail oriented with good writing and organizational abilities.* Ability to network within the community and work with diverse populations.Job Type: Full-timeBenefits:* Dental insurance* Health insurance* Paid time off* Vision insuranceSchedule:* 8 hour shiftAbility to commute/relocate:* Baltimore, MD 21223: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Preferred)Education:* High school or equivalent (Preferred)Experience:* Mental health and Substance Abuse: 2 years (Preferred)License/Certification:* certification as Peer Recovery Specialist (Preferred)Work Location: One location
