*DIRECTOR OF FRIENDS OF FT. MCHENRY**Job Summary*:The Friends of Fort McHenry (FOFM) works in partnership with the National Park Service and is the official non-profit partner of Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine. It is dedicated to preserving the historical legacy of the Fort and inspiring patriotism in all who visit the "Birthplace of the Star-Spangled Banner" through educational living history programs and the development of facilities and exhibits which interpret the FortA$ cents A cents ' not A cents " cents s rich history and increase access to this history for everyone. The FOFM is also committed to involving the community in preservation and historical interpretation so that Fort McHenry is a source of both local and national pride. FOFM achieves this mission through generous support provided by individuals, businesses, and foundations who value our heritage and the impact that history can have upon our young people.The Director of FOFM is the primary administrator responsible for the day-to-day activities of the organization and maintains an office at Ft. McHenry. The Director for the Friends of Fort McHenry must have strong organizational, time management, and communications skills, and must have experience with fundraising, event planning, sponsorship solicitation, and project management. The Director must exhibit the ability to work with people, stay on task, and produce quality results. Some work with other Living ClassroomsA$ cents A cents ' not A cents " cents programs, such as Maritime Education and Historic Ships in Baltimore, will be required. Computer proficiency in MS Word and Excel and the ability to maintain and update an existing website and social media sites is required. Graphic design experience helpful. This is a full-time position averaging approximately 40 hours per week. Some weekend work for special events and activities is required.*Essential Functions**Primary Responsibilities**: ** Budget development and sound fiscal management.* Fundraising including sponsorship development and solicitation and donor recognition.* Manage all aspects of membership and donor relations for FOFM with the support of LCF* Strategize and lead all sponsorship / fundraising initiatives for FOFM with LCF Development Team and FOFM Advisory Board* Manage FOFM Advisory Board relations and steward and grow current and new board members* Manage and coordinate the schedules and meeting activities of the FOFM Board and their committees.* Prepare and circulate FOFM Board and committee meeting agendas, information packages, and meeting minutes.* Manage all existing and future cooperating and task agreements with Fort McHenry and other funding agencies, as well as grants from Foundations. This may include supervision of summer youth employees, interns, etc.* Manage FOFM events, such as the Star-Spangled Banner Weekend, Young DefenderA$ cents A cents ' not A cents " cents s Day, Bull and Oyster Roast, Tattoos, etc.o Help promote events via media, online graphic programs, and social networkingo Manage ticketing and guests lists for special events* Develop and maintain the Friends donor database, mailing, and e-mail lists.* Maintain and develop the Friends of Ft. McHenry Website.* Produce monthly e-mail informational notices for members and donors.* Be the A$ cents A cents ' not A "faceA$ cents A cents ' not A' of the Friends of Fort McHenry at all War of 1812 activities and other historical commemorations and activities related to the Fort including but not limited to meetings, events, and serving on committees.* Grow and manage program relationship with NPS partners* Prepare brief monthly activity reports for the Managing Director of Maritime and Environmental Programming and the Superintendent of the Fort*Coordinated Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to: ** Work with the Managing Director to explore innovative means of reliable income in support of Friends administration and programming.* Research, write, and manage grant applications for FOFM with support of LCF Development Team* Work with the LCF Accounting Department to manage existing and future grants and other financial duties.* Work with LCF Communications Department with the creation of collateral materials, facilitating media relations, and the promotion of Friends events.* Work with the Friends Board, other volunteers, and Park Service Staff to coordinate and produce all special events and fundraisers.* Work with the LCF Administrative Staff to produce and distribute notices and invitations to all special events and fundraisers sponsored by the Friends.* Work with LCF education programs to coordinate and facilitate the development and implementation of all educational program opportunities sponsored by the Friends including Young DefenderA$ cents A cents ' not A cents " cents s Day, Summer Living History Youth Employment, and Annual Membership and Fundraising events* Work with LCF Development Staff to manage the FOFM Annual Appeal.*General Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to: ** Practicing and exhibiting safe work habits.* Being on time and on task.* Being an effective employee who exhibits and promotes a positive work ethic and good morale.* When necessary, being an effective spokesperson for the Friends of Ft. McHenry, Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine, and the Living Classrooms Foundation.* Such other duties, assigned as necessary, by the Managing Director.*Requirements: ** Three years of administrative / fundraising / event management experience, preferably in a non-profit organization* Attention to detail and extremely strong organizational and time management skills are a must* Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills* Excellent verbal and written communication skills* Should be proactive, resourceful, and efficient, with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality to help ensure quality results* Must be focused, motivated to learn, flexible to changes in work schedule in support of events and deadlines* Must be able to work independently and as part of a small team* Must be enthusiastic, outgoing, and professional* Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced and, at times, demanding environment; flexibility is a must*Qualifications: ** High School Diploma, college preferred* Proficiency with all MS Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) required* Experience in Blackbaud/Raiser's Edge or database management will be a plus* Event Management experience will be a plus* Experience in graphics and email marketing programs will be a plusJob Type: Full-time
