Responsibilities of Position:1. Determine the number of pupils eligible for transportation.2. Routes and schedules buses, including time schedules, bus routes, and number of buses needed, assignment of pupils to routes and buses and audits same.3. Conduct in-service programs for school bus drivers (regular and substitute)4. Prepare bus contracts and addendums.5. Enforce transportation regulations affecting drivers, parents and pupils in cooperation with local school officials.6. Inspect all routes and equipment at regular intervals.7. Verify and record information such as: licenses, health examinations, insurance, drug testing, etc.8. Serve as liaison between local school officials and parents, contractors, drivers, and students.9. Prepare and verify reports by the Department of Education and/or local school officials10. Gather data as needed by the Department of Education and/or local school officials.11. Secure forms and other materials necessary for the efficient operation of the transportation system.12. Keep informed on all developments in school bus technology by reading pertinent publications and attending seminars.13. Develop printed matter, audio-visual aids, etc. for instructional use and public awareness14. Investigate any and all complaints regarding any phase of the transportation operation and promptly institute any remedial or corrective measures required for satisfactory adjustment.15. Evaluate weather conditions with the assistance of the major contractors and make recommendations to the Superintendent for late starts, early dismissals and school closings.16.
