The Development Coordinator is a key member of the fundraising team, whose primary responsibility is processing donations, memberships, sponsorships, and grants received from individual donors and private funders; producing acknowledgement letters; and interfacing with the Finance Department to ensure accurate recording of contributed revenue. The Development Coordinator will support the activities of the Development Department, including assisting with Board Committees; our donor "pipeline"A' system, including our First Steps point of entry events; the annual fundraiser event, First Years; and engagement activities for prospective and major donors; and grant writing. In addition, the Coordinator will assist with outreach to raise awareness of the organization and its mission and general support of development activities, including maintaining the department calendar of fundraising activities and events; direct mail, electronic, and social media appeals; and stewardship of donors, such as sponsor acknowledgement, donor listings for the annual report, etc., and support of organization-wide events, especially if donors are attending. The Development Coordinator reports directly to the Development Director.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:* Receive incoming contributions from individuals, corporations, foundations, and other organizations by entering data into the donor database in a timely and accurate manner, and ensure all donors are thanked within 48 hours of receiving their contribution by preparing acknowledgment letters for the Development Director to review.* Prepare check deposit reports and monthly reconciliation reports for the Finance Department, including electronic funds transfers, credit card transactions, workplace giving, and other gift portals.* Maintain hard copy donation records for the annual audit that includes proof of donation, purpose of gift, and acknowledgement.* Coordinate data hygiene and correct data entry issues with the Salesforce Administrator; add new constituent records to the database as needed, analyze information and populate all appropriate data fields where information is available.* Assist with the creation and implementation of fundraising appeals for individual donors including preparing direct mail, e-blast and social media copy; purchasing supplies; proofreading and printing materials, managing mailing lists; and supervising mailing volunteers.* Prepare charity campaign applications and coordinate campaign to increase workplace giving through the United Way, Baltimore City Combined Charity, Maryland Charity, and Combined Federal Campaigns.* Assist the Development Director in researching prospective funders and maintaining materials for grant proposals that support Maryland Family Network operations and programs, annually updating service numbers and incorporating new initiatives.* Support special events including First Steps tours, the annual First Years fundraising event, the Sandra J. Skolnik Lecture, Family Network Day in Annapolis, Evening in Annapolis, and the Nancy S. Grasmick Leadership in Early Care and Education Award.* Assist the Development Director with updating Board orientation materials and Development's quarterly board meeting materials, and create annual donation summaries for board members and other major donors.* Assist with fundraising-related social media writing and monitoring.* Support the organization's child care membership program by sending monthly renewal notices and supplying new member cards along with list of benefits.* Prepare and submit annual applications, registrations, certification/affidavits, and other documents required of charitable organizations.* Prepare, pack, load, transport, unload and put away materials/equipment for development meetings and related special events.* Purchase refreshments for development meetings and coordinate food delivery.* Perform other administrative duties as assigned.KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:* High School Diploma required. Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Communications, or a related field preferred.* Minimum of three years of experience providing non-profit fundraising support that includes gift processing and stewardship, grant writing, and event coordination.* Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including routine use of Word, Excel, Publisher and Outlook.* Experience with Salesforce, or similar CRM database system required.* Familiarity with Braintree or similar credit card platform preferred.* Experience with video conferencing platforms like Zoom and Micrsoft Teams required.* Experience with social media campaigns to assist fundraising required.* Excellent written and oral communication skills.* Ability to pivot between projects and priorities.* Experience with the Benevon Sustainable Funding model a plus!* Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation for off-site events required.ENVIRONMENTAL:* Requires working indoors in environmentally controlled conditions, extended periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, operation of standard office equipment, stooping, crawling, and the ability to lift at least 25 pounds.* Full vaccination against COVID-19 required for all MFN staff.
