Akerman LLP, a top 100 US law firm serving clients across the Americas, is seeking a Litigation Docketing Specialist. This position is responsible for docketing and calendaring all the day to day litigation deadlines, and will provide docketing support to multiple practice areas that perform litigation work. An important part of this position will be to provide a quality control, second level of review of the firm's docketing and will report to the Docket Manager. This position also requires a clear understanding of the rules, practices and procedures of the courts and agencies frequented by the firm.*Responsibilities include: ** Review and monitor the Firm's docketing system, including the supervision of data entry, analysis, and calculation of due dates for all jurisdictions the firm practices in.* Responsible for understanding and researching court/ agency procedural rules.* Keep docketing system updated by ensuring that all documents are entered for each case and that the deadlines are calculated correctly.* Keep abreast of developments, procedures and rules in the forums where the firm practices including general state and federal practice.* Mentor new Department members and help to promote an elevated level of accuracy, efficiency, and integrity of the Firm's docket systems* Draft correspondence and communications relating to docketing systems and procedures as necessary.*Education and Experience: ** Bachelor's degree in a related field and 5 - 7 years of experience in a law firm docketing department with similar job responsibilities and supervisory experience or,* High School diploma and 10 years of experience in a law firm docketing department with similar job responsibilities and supervisory experience.* Advanced knowledge of docketing, and calendaring.* Extensive knowledge of various Court websites, docket searching, and document retrieval databases (PACER and various state-based Court websites)* Advanced proficiency with the Compulaw system, and* Strong understanding of docketing process including State and Federal Jurisdiction rules of court.We offer an excellent compensation and benefits package.
