We are looking for a patient and engaging Special Education Tutor to join our team of educators. *This is an In-Person tutoring position in Laurel, MD for 6 to 10 hours per week. *You will be responsible for teaching one student with mild or moderate disabilities. You will modify existing curriculum on basic subjects (eg math, writing) to meet the studentA$ cents A cents ' not A cents " cents s learning requirements and build individual lesson plans tailored to their specific needs. You will also discuss with parents and administration about important matters that might impede student's progress.Ultimately, you will help and inspire children to achieve important learning milestones.*Responsibilities** Assess student's abilities and craft teaching plans* Adapt learning materials to student's needs* Keep track of and reflect on student's progress* Find engaging activities to teach skills (eg drawing and theater drama)* Prepare student for transition to the next grade* Inform parents about their childA$ cents A cents ' not A cents " cents s performance and potential problems*Requirements and skills** Proven experience working with students with Autism who are Non-Verbal* Good knowledge of current special education topics and methodologies* Experience working with children with a wide range of disabilities* Ability to create IEPs* A patient, resourceful, and resilient personality* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills* Valid state special education certificate* BSc in Special Education; MSc is a plus* Three professional references are required*Rate of pay: $25 to $30 per hour.*Job Type: Part-timePay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hourSchedule:* Self-determined scheduleCOVID-19 considerations:Tutors are encouraged to wear a mask and practice frequent handwashing.Work Location: One location
