*William A. Hazel, Inc.*, a total site development contractor for over 50 years, is looking for an *Excavator Operator for our Pipe Crew*. This position reports to and is under the direction of foreman or superintendent. William A. Hazel, Inc., operates all over the _Northern Virginia Area. By applying to this position, you acknowledge and understand you may be required to commute to job sites._*Essential Functions*A' . Know OSHA safety and trenching regulations.A' . Be able to always operate excavator in a safe way (will always be around other workers) Lifting and setting pipe and structures.A' . Experience with excavating trenches for a pipe crew.A' . Able to work around underground utilities (telephones, gas lines, etc.).A' . Good sight, depth perception necessary.A' . Keep equipment in good working condition (grease, oil, water, etc.). Clean tracks.A' . Report anything wrong with equipment.A' . Be aware what is always going on around him/her.A' . Talk to pipelayer and work as team player.A' . Dig in trench boxes.A' . Separate dirt (occasionally). Topsoil or mud separated from good.A' . Get along with other crew members.*Requirements*To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Less than high school education required; or up to one year related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education experience. Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences. Ability to add and subtract simple numbers and to multiply and divide. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money, weight measurement, volume and distance. Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.*Physical Demands & Work Environment*The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions and is regularly exposed to fumes or airborn particles, extreme cold, extreme heat,and vibration. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and in high precarious places andis frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
