Under the supervision of the Director of Risk and Insurance, the Insurance and Claims Manager is responsible for managing and administrating the company's insurance and claims programs. The Insurance and Claims Manager position is expected located in the Alexandria, VA corporate office and is a full-time, permanent, exempt position in the Risk and Insurance group.The purpose of the Insurance and Claims Manager position is to provide operational assistance to Director of Risk and Insurance, and risk management support to Bonaventure's Property and Asset Management, Construction, Development, and Design teams. This will be accomplished by working closely with the Director and proactively interacting with the business groups and departments, collaborating, allowing for effective exchange of information necessary to deliver required support and services, and providing timely guidance to stakeholders, and resolving risk related matters.*What You Will Do: *_Claims Management and Administration_* Lead claims handling activities from loss notification, adjustment to final loss settlement; including assigning counsel, experts, and making recommendations on strategies and settlements, through closure* Conduct Claims Reviews and coordinate loss control inspections with third party providers as needed, Implement internal claim procedures* With supervision, oversee quarterly and year-end reserve requirements for self-insured programs* Serve as a liaison for Bonaventure Risk and Insurance and partner with all Bonaventure residents, contractors, or colleagues to ensure efficient handling of any/all claims* Build, maintain and manage relationships with claims adjusters, insurers, outside legal counsel, and other claims-related parties* Understand the facts surrounding all renter's insurance, general liability, builder's risk, discrimination, and property events that might warrant an insurance company to be notified of a potential claim. Know when to escalate a matter as required by company policy* Identify and follow through on all opportunities for subrogation* Coordinate the administrative aspects associated with litigation* Identify potential fraud claims and those where the validity is questioned* Utilize, manage, and maintain RMIS system* Analyze, trend and report loss run and incident reporting data to uncover loss trends in incidents and develop mitigation strategies to reduce or prevent future similar losses* Processing claims payments and related invoices_Insurance Program Management_:* preparing annual renewal submissions* Gather and analyze required underwriting data and for all lines of coverage for the real estate, construction, design, and corporate placements* Interact with captive insurance company managers on directly written and reinsured insurance policies* Working with the Director of Risk and Insurance to ensure that decisions on risk transference versus self-insurance are properly supported* Manage the timely issuance of insurance certificates for all business units* Liaise with internal stakeholders, eg, Property Managers, Project Managers, Regional Managers, Construction and Development Project Managers, etc. on risk management issues* Manage all aspects related to issuance of certificates of insurance. This responsibility entails working with internal and external stakeholders on verifying contractual insurance requirements and ensuring certificate information reflects those requirements* Processing invoices for premiums and vendors and related insurance activity* Support Director of Risk and Insurance on other risk and insurance matters as needed*Who You Are: ** Handles sensitive information with discretion* Innovates and improves processes* Faces difficult situations with integrity and tenacity* Meets challenges with enthusiasm* Works well in a team environment and builds strong relationships* Supports fellow team members to meet shared goals* Adheres to highest ethical standards and values* Multifamily or Construction experience preferred* Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe* Individual must have a firm understanding of various property and casualty insurance and risk management concepts* At least five (5) years' experience in risk management, insurance and/or brokerage fields in progressively more responsible positions* Strong analytical, problem solving, collaborative and interpersonal skills.* Well organized, able to balance competing priorities* Ability to deliver high quality work product under tight deadlines* Excellent communication skills*About Bonaventure: *_Founded in 1999, Bonaventure is a private equity real estate company headquartered in Alexandria, VA.
